So I am in maintenance, I was wondering what people thought of my experiment, for the New Year I want to try to give up two things

1) Caffeine in the form of coffee..... I hear I could sleep better, and other various health benefits by ditching the caffeine dependency (debatable I know)

2) Forgo "refined" carbohydrates for a year.... let me say I am far from a food demonize. it is not above me to have a do-nut and banana and call it dinner.

I want to try these things for my own personal experiment only to see what they hype is about.

So what will i eat?

I will drink teas (blacks and greens), diet sodas (don't hate me), and of course water. For food I will try to stick to of course fruit, veg, yogurt, meat, eggs, and dairy. I am plant based so I don't eat very much red meat. Most of my protein comes in the form of beans, yogurts, and eggs. When I eat meat it tends to be tuna, chicken, and turkey. The occasional burger and bacon is not off limits. Snacks, well popcorn is one of my FAVS as well as grape tomatoes.

I will eat rice, as i don't consider that "refined." I guess by refined I mean candy bars, packaged and boxed foods (pancake, cake mixes, cookies). However, cookies and other such items made from scratch are not off limits to me. Seeing as how I am lazy I don't see many of those in my future.

I am just in a phase of maintenance where I am kind of bored and want to try something new.

What do you think?

Black and green tea are high in caffeine too. You could limit them to one a day before lunch. That's what I do, and yes caffeine does effect your sleep. Otherwise have herbal or decaf.

I think you should do whatever you want and see how it works out for you.

I have cut a bunch of foods out of my diet, though, so I guess I am guilty of "demonizing food," lol.
  • I think it sounds like misery.

    1. Coffee is full of phytochemicals and deliciousness.

    2. Refined carbs are full of joy and pleasure (mmm, snickerdoodles)

But you go ahead and do what you think is best for you. It will just mean that there is more for me. :p

Nope. You can cut out what you want for whatever reason as long as you keep quiet about it and don't imply that it was necessary to do so to get results.

I cut a ton of stuff, it was necessary and I don't care who doesn't like it, lol. They can take me to Food Court, have a trial and find me guilty of Food Demonization. Fine by me.

I can live with my diet now. I couldn't before. So, I choose to demonize food. Mi demonize it all day, every day. I may march in the "Oreos Are Really Little Satans" parade.

Maybe I'll become a lobbyist and go to Washington to demand little demons be placed on all the foods I don't like or can't eat, starting with broccoli.

    I am a Food Demonizer.
