Hey everyone, I was wondering if any one has an opinion on recumbant bike vs stationary bike. Which burns more calories? I was also wondering if anyone knew how accurate this app is with counting calories? The machine says one thing and the app says another....Which is closer to being accurate?

    Do you mean
    a) recumbent vs. stationary, or
    b) stationary recumbent vs. upright (regular) stationary?

If it's b), upright burns more cals.

I'd use whichever number is lower.

I have been biking regularly for past 3 yrs, indoors and outdoors. For indoors bought a Bike trainer, use a regular bike with it, and have a front wheel base for incline as needed. other advantage of using your regular speed bike on a trainer is that you can set a strong resistance on wheel and change gears for further resistance and calorie burn. Switch odometer to back wheel for mileage is an option as well. Get a heart monitor watch, you will see progress.

Thanks everyone for your advice. @ginsmar‌, I received a machine for Christmas that is an ellipitical and a recumbent. The calorie count is much lower. Just started using it this week so I don't want to over do by trying to up the resistance without the feeling of passing out. Heart Monitor Watch sounds like my next investment. Here is a pic of the machine so anyone can understand
