    It will give you your tdee (total daily energy expendature)
    You must eat less than this to loose weight, I use my tdee and times it by seven to give me my entire allowance for the week and then take away 7000 - which (allowing for workouts) should make me burn between 1-2 pounds a week.
    - hope it helps. I find it hard to word things sometimes!
