So I am ready for a watch that will track my workouts - most importantly my speed while running. Any recommendations? Is the Garmin the best? Are there any deals to be found? My husband bought me a Timex "Fitness Tracker" but I don't know how accurate it is.
Any ideas? Thanks

My husband and I used the Nikeplus watch. It isn't bulky, which Garmin is. It syncs to a chip in your shoe and provides you with real time information on distance, per mile speed, total time spent, weekly miles ran, and total miles ran. You can store a lot of runs on it and when you do upload them, all you have to do is plug it into a USB drive and it will upload the information to a profile for you.
My husband has a Garmin watch for his bike rides. He told me that he doesn't use it for running because it is so bulky. The capability to map your run is great if you are a long distance runner, but if you are just going a couple miles do you really need a $200+ GPS watch? If you want to map your runs, the website www.mapmyrun.com is great because it will store all of your runs and also allows you to look up the courses of other people in your area.0 -

I've wanted to try the Nikeplus watch...But I thought it was a band that went over your arm...? I need to go look it up again. I was going to buy the iPod thing for my shoe, and then saw the band and didn't know which would be better.0 -
I have the Garmin Forerunner and love it! I have the older model, the 201 but the newer ones like the 301 and 305 are even better. You wear it like a watch and it tracks your pace, distance, speed, calories, elevation, etc. You can even put it on a virtual parner to *run* with. HTH!
