steroids and diet

i have been put on 6 steroids aday because of my asthma i was wondering if anyone will know if this effect my weight loss and how i can counter act this

    Nothing you can do really. Don't confuse corticosteroids with anabolic steroids though.

    Some people report they cause weight gain, others report weight loss.

    When I'm on them I get really really hungry though, so make sure you record your food intake well so that you know when/if you're going over, and if you are, adjust your exercise to take it into account.

    Hope the asthma situation improves.

    There is a dose effect (higher dose, bigger effect) on weight and appetite. Unfortunately, it will preferentially cause fat to be put in the abdomen and cause you to gain some weight (all other things being equal). For such a short time and hopefully not too high of a dose though you should be ok. Most of the trouble comes with long term use.

    I have a steroid based nasal spray and I have no issues. I do know traditional allergy pills make the average woman gain 10 lbs though!
