I really like the weight graph that thephoenixisen posted. It's a good reminder that small fluctuations don't have to mean the end of a good overall trend.

Exactly why I weighed myself every day (and tracked in MFP of course). And I've been showing others, so they don't get discouraged day-to-day and not to become obsessed with the scale. Play the long game, not the short one.

    Thank you, marvy1_nyc!

Above: At the starting gate with MFP, October 2010, 5'10", SW = 221, age = 48.5

    08271168lbs_1_zps8f797886.jpg

Above: lost 72 pounds by summer 2011, down to about 149, at age 49

    P1050941_zpsb9e1168e.jpg

Above: October 2013, down to about 145, me at Havasu Falls in Grand Canyon, age 51.

Now, no current pics, but I've maintained at 145 for a couple years, and just started weight-lifting (free weights). Been in a slow "bulking" phase to build strength and muscle, so I've gained about 5 more pounds. But my experiment is not done, so I don't have pictures that I want to share yet (want the full-blown "afters"); I will be strength-training until spring, then doing a cutting regimen with my normal spring/summer mountain biking and other outdoor activities. Can't wait until next fall after biking and maintaining some strength training. We shall see!!!

Day one I wanted to follow the Atkins induction 20 g plan but had a hard time but I think I still did good for my very first time....I had a total of 30 net carbs and I worked out....how was that for day one? Friend me and critique my diary. I can take it. Will definitely learn from your advice as a newbie!
