Hi everyone, I'm Laura!

I've been a member of myfitnesspal for a couple of years and managed to lose 30lbs. Unfortunately, over the years I've put that back on and I'm ready to change that!

I was diagnosed with Polycystic ovary syndrome when I was around 17 which makes it seem like my life is a constant battle with putting on weight.

I'd love to meet motivational people who interact with myfitnesspal daily- especially pcos sufferers who can offer tips and advice.

Thanks and happy dieting! :)

Have you been to an Endocrinologist? There are therapies that could help. I myself was diagnosed years ago.

I also have PCOS, and unfortunately, it will always be a struggle to lose weight and keep it off. Not impossible, though! With PCOS, eating clean is even more important. Also, keeping blood sugar even, and exercise (strength training and cardio). Really limit things with hormones in it. I stay away from dairy, and I try as best as I can to eat organic meat (no added hormones). I am 45, so I have dealt with this a good part of my life. I actually see a holistic dr. She is a dr in nutrition, and has helped way more than an endocrinologist or any of my other drs. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

Hi! I'm also Laura. I'm 23 and was diagnosed when I was 18. My sister also has it. I'm trying to lose 50+ pounds so my husband and I can hopefully try for a baby. Always looking for support! :) it's a tough thing to deal with... and not many understand. They always say.. you have what?

I've been seeing endocrinologists for years and none of them have been much help! My current specialist has put me on Metformin which helps when I take it for long periods of time, I can only usually tolerate it for a couple of weeks before giving into the stomach cramps and upset stomach :(

Yeah, Metformin can do that sometimes. Have you tried the brand name version? Some people respond to it better.

I haven't but I'll ask my specialist next time I see him  I'm also going to talk to him about gluten intolerance as I have a lot of symptoms

Try this group, Lots of good info and support there for pcos. Insuin resistance is often with pcos, and that means a lower carb/higher fat diet to help control the hormone and IR issues.

Im 28, I was diagnosed when I was 21, my obgyn sent me to an endocrinologist, thank god everything is normal, I also saw a dietician who helped, I lost 50lbs, but I gained that back because I was eating a lot of food and not watching my intake. I am on this journey for a healthy life so I can eventually have a baby

Hi! I'm Kimberli and I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 14. I am now 24 and I have a little girl that will be 4 in July. I got pregnant the first time with Clomid and did not have to lose weight at that time. I was overweight, but it didn't prevent me from getting pregnant. However, with and after my pregnancy i have gained an additional 30 lbs.

We have been ttc for 2 years now and have had 3 failed IUIs. At this point, weight loss and healthy eating would do great things for us! I have not been on Metformin, but I'm hoping to start it soon. Feel free to add me! I've never done the "supporting friends" thing on here, but I'm open to it! Anything to help me stick with this and the more tips from PCOS sufferers, the better! Good luck!

I was diagnosed in November. I could use some support on here. Add me if you like :)
