4.25 mile run in the snowy weather! No ice, thank God!

No races yet, my next big race will be the half marathon next May!! Plenty of time to train.

I have just recently been able to run! It is an amazing feeling. I ran 3 miles for the first time last week. I really want to do a marathon, are there short ones for starters?? Thanks:smile:

    Hello
I am training for a half marathon as well. I started running in September. I had never run before that. I joined a group that uses the Galloway method (run a minute/walk a minute) I am going to do my training run later today (3 miles) and we have a group run Saturday morning of 8 miles. I find the group really helps and I have to make sure to do the training during the week so I can keep up on the weekend. I am happy not to have snow or ice for that matter to contend with. You rock, running in the snow:smile:

No run for me today - weight training this morning.

I am running a half-marathon in 10 days, so I am in my taper period (resting up!)

That's a good idea, the resolution 5K! You'll have plenty of time to clean up for the wedding.

Good for you!! Well, I would start with a 5K race (3.1 miles), then maybe a 10K (6.2 miles), and gradually build up your mileage. A Mini marathon (13.1 miles) is a good goal also!! I've run one full marathon (26.2 miles) and that was enough for me! I like the shorter distances, they're easier on my body!

I ran the same race last year in 1:56. Didn't feel so good for a day or two before the race, but felt really good for the first half of the race, but then it caught up with me the second half (The race committee actually posted a heat advisory before the race, which is something you don't expect two weeks before Christmas). This year I'm hoping to go less than 1:52.

I'm doint the Cellcom Green Bay one. It's not nearly as big as the indy one, I don't think but I have a love affair with Lambeau Field, so I thought it was fitting for that one to be my first

Hi Y'all! I did 5.5 this morning, but was super sore from my session yesterday with my trainer. Yikes. I haven't comitted yet, but there is a 1/2 marathon in Miami at the end of January that I'm considering. We'll see...

I did 5 this morning in the snow! Sadly, in my neck of the woods, not a lot of marathons until the spring thaw.
  • WTG runners!

I did running drills and then 30 minutes with my training group.

I am going to do a 5k at night Dec 13th and another one in the morning Dec 14th. I am going to run a half marathon on January 25th.

You have all inspired me and I just signed up for two 5K's. I have until spring to prepare. I am so excited, but also super nervous. Any suggestions on how to train or prepare myself for this???

I'm not signed up for anything until the Columbia Triathlon in May, but I'm thinking of doing a marathon or maybe a half marathon in March. I was training for the Big Sur marathon last year when I got a stress fracture, so I'm trying to take it easy. I was running 5 times a week, 35 miles a week at this point last year, and doing most of it outside. Now, I'm running 3 times a week, I'm up to 15 miles a week and I'm doing most of it on the treadmill.
