So I have a really awkward question. I use my fitbit to log my daily burns, and it is great, but it has been counting bedroom activities as steps, especially if I am moving my wrist a lot. I know that people say sex burns calories, but I question the calorie burn fitbit comes up with (via thinking I'm taking steps, not manually logged). So my question is: how exactly can I make sure my fitbit is not over estimating my burn? I don't want to just take it off since I feel naked when its not on (I know that sounds odd given the nature of the question). So how you go about it? My thought is maybe manually log an exercise during that time frame and record 0cal burn, but then it gets logged as "active minutes".

You shouldn't be counting any calorie burns from a fitbit, it's the most inaccurate estimate for calorie burns. You already input your lifestyle on MFP and it gave you a deficit from the activity level you selected. MFP takes into account you walking to the bathroom, walking to work, cooking and even in your case the 100 calories you might burn during intercourse.

Fitbits are great to get your more active horrible calorie counters. Have an activity goal of like 1500 steps per day once you hit that up it to 1600 so on and so on.

Lol yes. Fitbit flex. I'm a bit confused by your reply. How would switching hands help?

You mentioned extra steps from wrist-based activities. Perhaps I made an assumption, but if your flex was on the opposite wrist, and not thus moving, it wouldn't be giving you erroneous steps.

Really though, I think taking it off is your best bet. Repeat after me, naked is good

Ahh. Both end up moving so that wouldn't work.

And, um, probably more attractive, too. Fitbits are kinda ugly plastic things, aren't they? It'd be a bit like wearing socks to bed.

It's not too ugly lol. Looks more like a bracelet.

I've been using my fitbit since August and have been steadily losing weight. I use it so if I have a really active day at work I can add more calories accordingly.

It is more of a concern that the fit it will give me extra cals because of the movement.

As long as you're not starfishing then I can see where the extra calories *might* be a concern but again it would be negligible.

Like I already alluded to, take it off.

You are wrong!!!! I've it used for 90% of my weight loss and lost 121 pounds using it and also using it for maintaining my weight now. Clearly you have no ideal what you are talking about.

Hey so mine HRM said I burned 500 calories dancing last night with some girl at the bar.

Um, yes. Because if you actually really cared about this problem, you would take the fitbit off for a session to compare data.

I'm sorry but this isn't nearly enough information for us to be helpful. Could you PM me with some more detail about what you're doing, how many participants, specific activities? Photos of your work-out area would be helpful as well as any videos of your form, stills, progress pictures.

An average man on top burns 243 kcal/hour [Men's Health], and an average woman on the bottom burns 183kcal/hr. We make a big deal about logging every tortilla chip on here, so by all means take credit for anything beyond a quickie. ;)
What does a woman on top burn? If it's worthwhile hubs might become very happy

If you wear your fitbit on your non-dominant hand like it suggests, change the setting so that it thinks it is on your dominant hand. It is less sensitive that way.
