Dessert addict trying to cut the crap

Hi!
I'm trying to lose about 15 pounds that I've gained after a few years of terrible eating habits. I haven't even made an attempt to eat healthily since summer 2013. I'm trying to get rid of that "I can eat whatever I want" attitude.
I started tracking on Monday and I already feel so much better!

You can eat whatever you want.
You just need to learn portion control and moderation. It comes with time and experience.
There's nothing wrong with eating:- eggs and bacon for breakfast
- a cupcake for a morning snack
- a salad with chicken breast, olives, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, and feta cheese for lunch
- almonds and an apple for an afternoon snack
- salmon, brown or white rice, and asparagus for dinner
- and popcorn for a late night snack
Buy yourself a food scale, log consistently and honestly, drink enough water, eat foods you enjoy using portion control, and you will lose those 15 pounds.0 -

Thanks! Yes I know, my problem is definitely portion control. I do not plan to cut out desserts completely. I meant that at some points I would eat cookies for breakfast, chips for lunch, and go out to dinner and ice cream. Yikes. I plan to stop doing that crap and eat actual meals which include fruits and vegetables.
I'm a senior public health major in college so I've known for a very long time how bad my eating was. Finally ready to actually do something about it!0 -

Like I said, portion control will become easier. Just stick with it! It will be hard but don't give up. It does eventually get easier.
Ah, I understand now. Definitely not good that that is all you were eating! I'm happy to hear you aren't going to cut out a whole food group. You can obviously still eat chips, cookies, and ice cream. You just want to make sure you hit your macros (protein, fat, and carbs). Actually, you can use cookies and ice cream and chips to hit your macros. Many people do that here. What's most important is that you are eating a well-balanced diet.
What a small world. I am also a public health student! You can do this!
