    I have never had it. Thought I did but it was merely just me being jaded. I knew because of when I ended things with him(because he became distant and i suspect cheating) I didnt even miss him. I have NEVER missed an ex. Thats how I know I have never been 'in love'. I have begun to doubt its existence. I'm serious. At least for me.

    Haven't had my heart broken since I was a teenager. Thought I had love, but I found out after 25 years I was mistaken. Heartache is tough at any age.

    To me, romantic love is a combination of affection, attraction, respect and something else that's hard to define... a shared responsibility, perhaps.

    As to where romantic love comes from, I think comedian Tim Minchin sums it up very well in his song, "If I didn't have you" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeZMIgheZro).

    love is the reason i finally sat down to start writing my novel last night. keep in mind, of course, that i ascribe to a Biblical Christianity and make every effort to look at everything in my life from that perspective.

    having said that, here's the intro (rough copy, unextended): "When God created [my husband], He knew that this man would only serve Him with good reason. Like Adam, it was not good for him to be alone. So, He set about creating the perfect partner for him, one who would be able to love him continuously through all suffering and pain and all joy and pleasure. And so, I am. This is why I exist. The purpose i serve is to assist [my husband] and my children in living the Godliest and most fulfilling lives possible. I am here to give my husband a reason to serve our Lord.

    That is the true beginning of the story of how we came to be together. But, when the food's been eaten, and the sun's gone down, while good friends and loving family slap at mosquitoes and the glowing moon and the burning tips of the cigarettes they smoke provide the only light, I tell the story like this. . ."

    and then the actual in-this-life story begins, but i won't write that here, because the question is "what is your definition of love?" my definition of love is the unconditional, mutual promise of life and heart that two people make to each other with the intention of fulfilling that promise into the end of their own time. and i've seen it. and i have it.

    I'm not sure there is an exact definition for love. It's different things to different people I suppose. To me, love is more of an action that you show rather then a feeling that you get or a word you should say. I tend believe it's more of a choice you make to to show, or not show, every single day. Without action, it's just a word.. Even if someone has a loving feeling, it really means nothing unless they show it.

    I also don't really buy into the whole "there's only one person out there for you" kinda stuff. I think it's possible to fall in love with many different people, it's just a matter of allowing your heart to go there with that person.

    Love, the kind that lasts through a life time, is a continual choice. Sure there's attraction and hormones, but those things wax and wane. I do not believe in soul mates or anything like that. Had my life gone differently, and DH and I hadn't met, I believe there are others I could have been happy with. But I chose him to spend my life with. There is nothing more powerful than choice. And knowing that you are not with someone because of a quirk of fate or destiny, but someone's choice is wonderful.

    To quote a country song, "Love isn't someplace that you fall. It's something that you do."

    DH and I will have been married 9 years in Aug. Seems like forever ago now, but yes, once upon a time, my heart was broken.

    This may sound a bit far out. However I will always believe that loving couples become chemically bonded, by taste, odors, and touch. I think that is one reason it hurts so much when we part.

    Love to me is trustig someone enough to show them my emotions, and not hide behind a wall.
    Also foe me I have to be able to trust someone if I can do that then I can respect them and be loyal and ifi can do those 3things then I can love them.
    I just got out of a difficult relationship soo im just keeping my head down and focusing on myself right now :-)

    Love is caring about someone, wanting to make them happy, wanting to be a better person because of them.

    Yes, I have had my heart broken and it truly sux!

    No one in my life right now, I'm focusing on me, and graduating this month so I have not had the energy to worry about meeting someone.

    I met my husband almost 4 years ago and we've been married just over a year. I never had a boyfriend before him so I haven't had to deal with any heartbreak. He is THE MOST supportive person I know. I feel incredibly blessed just to have him in my life. When we first got together a lot of people said we would never make it... and even more people said that we shouldn't be together, but we always knew we had something special. I've had issues learning to trust people & pretty much never show my emotions around anyone.. but he is the one and only person I can truly be myself with. :heart: :heart: :heart: To me, that's what love is about... being able to be EXACTLY who you are.. and they still love you completely.

    There's so many definitions to wat love is for everyone...very different meaning to everyone. For me it's very different from yours b/c I'm not really into the religion things.

    Love is knowing without any doubt that if you were both trapped in a burning building they would lead you by the hand to safety and not push by you to save themselves. If you can't be absolutely positive of that answer then you're with the wrong person.
