Hi all, Today is my very first day! I have a long way to go to reach my 30kg loss and I know there will be many ups and downs along the way. Would love to hear from everyone about how they are going and get some much needed tips to help keep me focused.

So I am wondering what's the best device to use to track calories burnt. Is the fitbit better than the watch and strap around your torso because I find it uncomfortable. I want to make this as easy as possible so I have a better chance of success.0

Hi Kim I am also somewhat new. I had joined before , but lost track of myself so I'm going to try this again. I am a diabetic and I eat 6 times a day. Br, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. Now my meals are not too big and my snacks usually consist of fruit and or yogurt. You need to pick a snack that will satisfy you until your next meal. As I said fruit is good. I started eating grapefruits and they seem to keep me going to my next meal. I hope this help you.0

Thanks Bookwitch, I need to start writing down what I eat so I can keep track but I find sometimes I let it take over everything and I'm constantly checking to see when I can eat again! It's going to be so hard, but now both my girls will be at school this year I will have no excuse to go to the gym. Just need to remember to drink myself silly with water0

Hi ladies! I've been using fitnesspal off and on for maybe a year and half, maybe 2 years? Anyway, it's great tool to use when you are getting started because it lets you see how many calories you are actually eating and helps you learn more about how many calories are in what foods, so that's why I like it.
The trackers- the Fitbit is great if you want to track your steps and activity all day, but the calorie burns are estimates, so I don't know how accurate it is. Heart rate monitors are more accurate. I think Garmon has a fitness band with a HRM, I think they are called vivofit? You use the tracker most of the date and when you go to the gym use the HRM with it. I personally like my polar FT4 HRM, I normally only track what I burn working out. Good luck on your journey!0 -

and can even pull of data for time range, up to the last 6 months,

Thanks for the tips, I'm slowly navigating my way around MFP, will be even better if I can track my workouts automatically. Am seriously thinking about the fitbit. I have the sunnto monitor but I find the strap annoying and sometimes I forget to put it on it's interesting to read about the heart rate side of things Kimberly, I was only ever worried about calories burned. I know they are an estimate, it's just good to get an idea of how ur going.0

I use Polar FT4. It is simple to use and really an asset. I thought I was working hard at the gym, only to discover with my HRM I was not getting my heart rate up. I love that I can look at it right then and see where I am with heart rate. I now kick *kitten* at the gym and feeling more of a "high" after. I haven't tried Fitbit but I have heard great things.
