I think I'm losing weight too fast

I'm new to MFP and in the past five days since I have been using it I have lost four pounds. I set the program up to lose 1 per week. I was using a paper food diary and the same thing happened. First week 4 pounds. So the next week I only met my set goal four days per week and ate normally for the rest-2 pounds. My next move was to do the same alternate weeks-bravo 2pounds in 2 weeks. Since it was so irregular it fizzled out at three months at 12 pounds lost. I don't want the same thing to happen with MFP. Can I reset my activity level to reflect reality and if so how and at what figure? Over the five days so far I have averaged 2300 Calories in and 580 out per day (mainly running)

Many people lose faster when they begin than they do later. The more you lose, the harder it gets!

Some people put it down to losing water, but unless you're cutting sodium or drinking less, it's unlikely that it's water. I lost 3-4 pounds a week for many weeks and it wasn't water, lol.

Eat as much as you can (while still losing) because when it gets hard, you might want to have the calories to play with. As there is less of you, your body will need fewer calories to haul itself around all day and if you don't have any to drop, it's that much harder.

But if you aren't cutting drastically and feel strong and healthy, just ENJOY how fast it comes off. It won't be like that forever!

That's not too fast at all. I lost 20 pounds my first month. It'll slow down to a nice, healthy average.

    Keep doing what you're doing.

Generally it is expected for most people to lose a little more weight in the first week or so, it is mostly excess fluid weight. It is likely that the weight loss will reduce beyond the first week.

Before you do any adjusting why not wait see how it goes.

It is likely if weight loss reminds high that you will need to eat back some of your exercise calories but do make sure the exercise calories calculated are accurate and not over inflated.

Keep doing what you're doing. In the first few days especially you will lose a whole ton of water weight. In the first 6 days I was doing this I lost 7 lbs. I promise you're more than likely doing it right:)

I had even crazier amounts ( i am almost at 90 days now and lost 60 pound so far) The First 6 weeks were crazy.

So dont worry it will slow down.
Mine is slowing down now. :)

lol yep thats why i dont complain all. hehehe
I just enjoy the ride and go with the flow

As long as i feel good and energetic and am pissed off when it is my rest day ( lol sundays) because i want to train. and get all my nutrition i am happy with any weigh loss.

I dropped the first 5lbs pretty quickly, too. After that it levelled off to a more expected pace.

If you're still losing this quickly after a few weeks, then it's time to re-evaluate. But in the first 5 days? Pretty common and not a cause for concern.

What are your stats (height/weight/age/activity level)? How many calories are you eating?

Wait a few weeks. Generally the first week or two is a lot of water weight loss which you will then put back on as your body gets used to the changes in eating. Many people experience a fast loss for anywhere from a week to three, then a stall, or even a gain. By 4-5 weeks you should be all leveled off and have a better idea what your actual weekly average will be. I would wait at least 3-4 weeks before fiddling with the numbers

Initial weight loss is always faster, due to water weight loss.

25 miles per week, wow! That's a heck of a lot of running.

Surely if you run that much, you already know about the performance benefits of fuelling your body properly. If you are eating enough to support your training, then very likely it's just fluctuation and nothing to worry about.

My initial weight loss was 10 lbs. in 9 days and then I realized that its a lifestyle commitment to diet and fitness. My problem is I need to get back to weighing in once a week/I have better results that way.

Thanks segacs I feel fine I don't even feel hungry on my present intake and I have always been active. As a cyclist I used to do 5000-7000 miles per year but I always rode 20lb heavy. So this weight loss thing is new to me and that is why I was concerned
