Ground Flaxseed

Has anyone used ground flaxseed to assist with hunger control? I've been using it for two days now, 2 TBSP and I noticed when I woke up this morning, I WASN'T starving like I normally am. I had a small breakfast and coffee and am just now feeling hungry for lunch. Am I just convincing myself it really works for hunger control or does it? LOL!

I use it in my oatmeal and a few other recipes from time to time. I've never heard of using it for hunger control. I like it for the omega-3 and fiber content0

I'm not aware of any hunger control benefits but if it's working for you that's great!. I regularly add it to my morning protein shake. I don't know how true this is but they say Chia seeds because they expand make you feel fuller. I also occasionally use glucomannan to thicken up my smoothies and it's supposed to have the same expanding effect.0

If it works for you, it works.
I don't feel anything different when I put 3 TBSP ground flaxseed in my morning oatmeal.0 -

No more than two or three days, according to my father the physicist. Apparently the beneficial fatty acids leak out or evaporate or something.0 -
I buy my flaxseeds already ground up, and store them in the fridge. My health food store, where I buy them from has them in the fridge too.0

I do the same.
OP, if it makes you happy, whether or not it's simply a placebo effect, then keep on doing it. There's a great recipe out there for a muffin made with flax seed, an egg and a few other ingredients that is versatile and filling. Do a web search on "Muffin in a minute" and you'll find the original recipe and lot of great variations. Some people even cook it in a bowl or square container and cut it to use like bread for a sandwich at only a few grams of net carbs per "muffin".0 -

I keep mine in the freezer. Just in case you're wondering, the flaxseed meal does not freeze into a solid block.

I use it in my smoothie each day. More for the nutrients than hunger control. It's very good to use. I also love chia seeds too.0

Thanks y'all, I appreciate the input. I've heard about Chia seeds expanding, but I take a Chia Seed oil supplement, along with Resveratrol and Tart Cherry Extract. Maybe it's a combo of all of them, but I am DEFINITELY feeling different. Not nearly as hungry and I have no desire for sweets which is usually my go-to comfort stuff. LOL!! I'm feeling better than I have in a long time, making sure I drink plenty of water and I'm down 8 lbs in two weeks. I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing til it doesn't work anymore. ;-)0
