That sounds incredibly unhealthy, even dangerous.

Eat more? I started MFP by eating the suggested 1200 but wasn't losing, I upped it to 1800 and it seemed to help. But I don't know if that was it or not, I'm not as hardcore into this as others are.
    Good luck!

Few things: 1-you should not be eating only 500 cals a day 2- if you are and you are not losing weight, you are eating more than you think (not advocating a 500 cal plan, just stating if you aren't losing, you are likely measuring calories wrong) 3- what is the dukan diet?

Yeah.... No. If someone is not losing at X amount of calories, increasing makes no sense.

This violates the guidelines. Your intake is dangerously low and you should seek medical attention if this has been an ongoing weight-loss method of yours. Start eating actual food.

Did ya notice how I said I didn't know if it is what helped me or not? Now thinking about it I'm going to go with yes since I didn't change my exercise habits.
    Thanks anyways....

Why not just follow the MFP guidelines you got at setup?

This really isn't safe. I'm concerned you're not getting enough of your required nutrients to survive. Your hormones are probably all out of whack, are you sluggish? Are you cranky?

It's time to make an appointment with a certified nutritionist and discuss with them.

Is that 500 including the Dukan supplements or is it just the other food?

TRY "Eating Three 500calorie meals/day" and I would bet you will feel better, be able to work out harder, and overall lose weight healthier.... :)

I would be a very unhappy, grumpy person if I only ate 500 calories a day.

Are you certain you are only eating that much, maybe you are eating more than you think. Are you weighing and logging everything?

I would contact your MD as you may have something else going on - hormones, thyroid, etc.

It's possible, but more likely what is happening is that she severely undereats for a short period of time, goes back up to a "normal" intake and sees a slight gain from water/glycogen/the weight of the actual food in her system, and interprets that as weight gain. She's not spending enough time in the VLCD to see weight loss, which is why she thinks it's "not working," but also not spending enough time at the increased intake for her weight to even out, which is why she thinks she gains weight if she eats more.

500-700 calories a day for 3 weeks is what is called a very low calorie diet (VLCD) no matter what plan you are following

It is DANGEROUS and can lead to gallstones, abnormally slow heart rate and low blood pressure, which mean that the heart muscle is changing.
The risk for heart failure rises as the heart rate and blood pressure levels sink lower and lower.
Reduction of bone density (osteoporosis), which results in dry, brittle bones.
    Muscle loss and weakness.
Severe dehydration, which can result in kidney failure.
    Fainting, fatigue, and overall weakness.
Dry hair and skin; hair loss is common.
Growth of a downy layer of hair called lanugo all over the body, including the face, in an effort to keep the body warm.
  • @AliceDark‌ I see what you're saying but it has been 3 weeks that im"undereating"

Because you're eating at an unhealthy, bordering on anorexic level. If your count is accurate, you're depriving your body of important nutrients.

    That's not a long time.

To be very clear: eating at that level is DANGEROUS. You'll end up hurting yourself if you continue. Rabbitjib gave you a good list of the risks up there. You absolutely should not continue.

My point was that when you eat more than that, you're not gaining actual weight. The bump you see on the scale is temporary and will correct itself if you give it enough time.
