hi everyone, I'm new to trying to figure out not just being on a diet but teaching myself portion control. I quit smoking two years ago, had a very stressful job and next thing I know I'm extremely overweight. I am on a journey to lose 100 lbs. I walk everyday 2.5-5 miles and I bike everyday 5-10 miles. Now using my fitness pal I'm seeing how bad my eating habits were. I've taken out a lot from my diet and traded it for healthy choices and I'm looking forward to the transformation. Looking for any helpful advice or to share the struggles along the way.

That is amazing news. I have been on a journey to lose 100lbs as well. I am down 35lbs. But reality tends to get in the way. MFP has taught me that the foods I love really aren't worth the calories. I use Pinterest for most of my recipes on foods I love but a healthier version. I am also starting a new program in February: 21 Day Fix to help with the foods too. I currently am strength training with CLX. I also walk 3 miles a day. So if you need a buddy, you can add me.

Buy a digital scale. It helps a lot and they are cheap. I second the Pinterest suggestion. It's great for finding recipes. I am down about 90 lbs with about 75 more to go. Feel free to add me.

  • Awesome! thank you! I've kicked things off with trading most my meats for chicken or turkey. JennieO has some pretty good stuff. Carbs are down a ton! and instead of drinking a few soda's a day I might sneak one a week. MIO fit and water! I hope I can say the same as you guys in a few weeks. That is a lot of weight dropped! You guys must be proud...I know I would be. keep it going!

When making meals at home, focus on adding veggies to everything. I've created a ton of veggie dishes that are very filling, but low on calories during the summer. They're already low in calories, so it's a nice way to make your tummy feel full, without packing on the pounds.
