Exercise timing

Options
Was told by Dr. I been exercising at wrong time. You burn your carbs and sugar in the first hour or two that's when I should exercise. After 2 hours she says I'm burning my protein and letting my sugars turn to fat. Depriving my muscles of the protein they are begging for.

Oh don't worry, most GP's have like 8 hours of this stuff (don't quote me, my point is not much education in it). Mine argued with me that my BMR couldn't possibly be 1326. He actually left the office to disprove me, but unfortunately for him, while he was gone, I pulled it up on my phone. The look on his face was priceless, when he told me I was right.

Yeah no. This advice is just pure pseudoscience/bro science.

    Your doctor is a Quack.

    Capital "Q".

Suggest finding one who knows what he's talking about.

did your doctor really say this? that's actually frighteningly ignorant and actually makes no sense whatsoever.

if it were me, i'd start interviewing potential new doctors.

That is VERY out-of-date advice...and totally incorrect. I would be switching doctors ASAP.

The best timing is the timing that you can stick with and adhere to consistently.

The only day I work out is Saturday morning because that is one of the days I meet with my trainer the rest of the time I work out during the evening. Do what fits your life style and what you like best.

I have lost 90lbs and 40 inches and my doctor was very pleased and didn't care what time of day I worked out.

Best wishes and luck finding a time what works for you.

Does your nutritionist wear a backward baseball cap, wear a muscle tee, and talk about clean bulking?

I rarely do that either. I am a grazer and eat all day but stay within my calories. So to work out 1-2 hours after eating would not work for me either. I also eat my meals after my workouts at night and have a small English muffin before my run so as you can see my eating and workouts are all over the map. :)

No but the funny part she is about 40 and very overweight... My question was in my job I walk 10 miles in 4 hours so should I break it down to 2 hours after I eat wait until next meal and then the next 2 hours after that meal lol

Exercise when it fits into your schedule. Studies galore support all different methods and times for exercise.

The actual point of it all is to exercise. Do an exercise designed to increase your cardio and burn calories. No matter what time of day that happens, calories will be burned and if you're exercising you're working to lose fat and increase muscle.

I prefer to work out in the morning, but I've added a lunch time routine as well and I even workout after work if the mood strikes. I just avoid the 2 hours right before bedtime since exercise leaves me pretty wired and I find it hard to get to sleep on time.

I lost 30lbs in 2 months so I must have been doing something right plus I lowered my sugar from 150 to 112 and my cholesterol went under acceptable finally. They sent me because after my heart operation I needed insulin. That was caused by the operation. I think I'll keep doing what I been doing. Besides at 6 weeks after quad bypass I was walking 4-5 miles on treadmill
