Frozen Vegetables or nah?

I have been lately eating a TON of frozen vegetables to make me feel full. Even after eating vegetables, I feel fat. I hear people say that vegetables are low in calories and will not make you fat and others oppose. Help!?
Will I gain weight if I eat a large portion of vegetables instead of a bag of chips/anything of that sort? And yes, the vegetables I am eating are frozen that do not have any added ingredients/fats/sugar.
Thanks!

Weigh your food and log it. Calories in vs calories out.
  • As long as you stay in a caloric deficit, you will lose weight. I personally eat an entire bag of Birdseye Steamfresh veggies about 3 nights per week, but I still come in at or under my caloric goal.

The ONLY thing that makes you fat is eating more calories of ANYTHING than you burn. While it's hard to get fat eating frozen veggies if they take you over your calorie limit well.

Who says they will make you fat - I'd stop listening to them.

    What's your calorie goal?

1,100-1,200 is my calorie goal. It is getting pretty hard to lose weight as I am at that point where I want "vanity pounds" to be shaved off--the last 10lbs are indeed the toughest...

In general, veges are low in calories, and frozen vegetables list the calories right on the bag or box, so it should be very easy to calculate many calories you are eating in a portion. Can you tell us?

Unless said vegetables consists of a bag of fries, I think you are gonna be all right. I have totally scarfed down a whole bag of broccoli or green beans before.

Log all the veggies, account for the calories, and enjoy.

I would say it depends on how ur body works. Like for me I can't eat high carb veggies even though there good for me bc i'll get fat lol. When I'm cutting weight I won't eat corn, peas, tomatoes, legumes, carrots, zucchini, broccoli, bananas (plus a zillion other things). For me if its not leafy green it makes me fat BUT that's just my body type. I'd say if u have a decent metabolism then ther not gunna make u fat. Better than having a juicy cheeseburger lol

Don't you use the diary function of this site? Are you eating fewer calories than you're burning

I eat frozen veggies all the time. I'll eat the entire package in a meal if I have the calories for it. Just be careful of the ones with sauce - some are pretty high calorie - but most I've found are not.

Unless you are very short, 1100-1200 is really low for a 19 yr old. As others have said, weigh your food and log it. It doesn't matter what kind of food it is.

You only will gain weight if you eat more calories than you burn. It can be done, but is really, really difficult with a bag of frozen veggies as part of your main meals, even if you eat one every day.
With all due respect; maybe you need to read up on basic nutrition and be well informed, so you won't fall for something uninformed as " frozen vegetables make you fat ".
    Good Luck !

    It's really not.

If you are in a deficit, you will lose weight. If you are putting on weight then I promise you it's not the corn, peas or tomatoes fault, but a fault in your logging somewhere.

    Nonsense.
  • I often find frozen veggies to be fresher than "fresh" produce from the store that ripened on its shipping voyage.
