hi all I'm a newbie and I seem to be going under my fat allocation for a few days. Problem is I don't know what healthy fats to eat (apart from avocado and almonds). Any suggestions that are calorie friendlie too? Thx

All foods high in fat are going to be pretty calorie dense. The only fat I stay away from is trans fat, and honestly, if something I buy has a bit of it, I'm not all that concerned.

Put olive oil on your salad, butter on your toast, and nut butters are always tasty.

Olive oil and nut butters - great idea thanks! :) is almond butter generally healthier than peanut butter?

    They're both good.

Don't fear fat! Fat is what makes you feel full and makes food tasty.

Use full fat milk, cheese, butter, yogurt, etc. These will help you hit your fat macro.

I don't really eat foods out of boxes (mac and cheese, hamburger helper, Pillsbury, Kraft, etc), so I don't know if that stuff comes in low fat versions, but if it does, make the regular fat version so you hit your macros.

    Good luck!

Thanks. I did WW for years when saturated fats were the enemy so I'm conditioned to avoid fats at all costs!!

I think many of us got sucked into avoiding fats and hurt our health. I have had good luck so far swapping out added sugar carbs for fat from coconut oil. It played with the mind at first but when my health started to improve my mind changed and decided Fats were good in my case.

For a paradigm shift in eating lifestyles to happen can be an evolving process over time. Keep up the good work. Remember what works for one may NOT be right for another. Do a lot of googling on the subject and over time your plan will come together by trial and error of applying things that you learn.

I agree... Don't fear fat. There are a lot of good fats that actually help you lose weight. Avocados, raw nuts. Coconut, olive, avocado and grape seed oils are excellent. Don't be afraid of REAL butter and ghee as well. Just remember everything in moderation.
