OP - define "cheat" for us, please.0

why bother? If you can stick to your calories do that. It works.

Have a cheat meal, not a cheat day. If I made it a day...I could easily eat 7K calories in a "cheat day". Chose a meal, don't worry about it, and negate it later.0

I'm guessing OP set out to have a cheat day, but stayed within 1200 cals. If so, OP, then yes - 1200 cals does not a cheat day make.0

A 1200-calorie day would not really be a cheat day...0

This.
Don't seek to cheat, instead seek to work the sort of food you'd consider cheat food into your diet. You'd be surprised just how easy it is. Then occasionally indulge in a cheat meal.0 -

I would never consider a 1200 calorie day a "cheat day"...it would be a sad day, but not a cheat day.TavistockToad wrote: »How is it a cheat day?
Stop categorizing foods as "good" or "bad" and look at your diet in it's entirety for proper context. I'm having pizza and beer tonight...it's not going to somehow undo all of the other awesome nutrition I had earlier today or my 50 mile bike ride...in the context of my diet and fitness, it's rather insignificant.0 -
Thanks for the input everyone. I want to do well and not set myself up for failure. I've lost weight and then gained it back. I want to lose weight and still eat normal. I am glad I got advice.

You never answered the questions... How is eating your usual 1200 cals a 'cheat' day? What did you cheat on?0 -
Why did I get a notification about people replying here. Not my post and I haven't made a reply here.
But I'm pretty sure a cheat day is meant to be when you over eat a bit. So if your normally eating 1200 and then do 1800 one day. That's a cheat.
If you do 1200 by eating hotdog stuff crust pizza it isn't a cheat day.0 -

When you stuff with all kind of junk food you can find jk when you eat what you want without thinking of cal0 -
I ate 7 fried shrimp, mashed potatoes, green beans for dinner and went to the movies and ate buttered popcorn. Morning I ate egg whites with a slice of ham. Lunch I ate two Bbq chicken wings.

It's not a cheat if it fits within your calories. I know it feels wrong to eat good stuff, but it's more about portion control. I still eat cookies every night after dinner, but now I only have a few versus half a box0
