  • You can have 4 oz chicken, fish, beef or pork with a salad or veggies if you want low carb.

If you are only drinking two shakes and eating 500-600 calories for evening that is only 900-1000 calories. That seems incredibly low. Are you sure you're calories intake and deficit numbers are accurate. If you eat too little you may have a few weeks of weight loss and then your body will start storing the fat. I am a big proponent of using http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ As far as meals go, I would eat 4-6 oz lean protein, 1/2 c cottage cheese, 1/2 c rice or lentils, and 1 cup of veggies or a salad.

I would say that's far too aggressive of a calorie deficit. What is your height/weight? You could probably lose weight on far more calories. The issue with slim fast is that it's a temporary solution unless you plan on drinking 2 shakes a day for the rest of your life. I also don't see how replacing real food with liquid is going to help you stick to a diet. When I diet I need as much real food as possible to stay full and get in all my vital nutrients.

Once you get off the shakes, you are most likely going to gain your water weight, and the slight fat loss from the deficit back. You aren't learning how to eat properly. Echoing above that unless you plan on doing Slimfast forever, it is not a viable solution. Why not explore this site and figure out some options so that you can actually eat food at breakfast and lunch?
  • I am still eating in the day just low calorie snacks and fruit and still eating a dinner I have heard good reviews on this diet

It creates a huge calorie deficit, yes. But it's not a sustainable long term solution.

That's all fine but you have to understand that shakes aren't magic or special in any way. They are just food with calories, protein, carbs, and fat. You could eat solid food with the same calories as the shakes and your results would be no different. You are also consuming too few calories. It seems silly to start low then add more calories later. That's pretty much backwards from what I would do. I'd try and lose fat at the highest level of calories possible so that way if fat loss stalls, I have plenty of room to reduce calories. If you are eating 1200 or so, and you stall, what will you do? Reduce to 1000, 900...That seems like a terrible choice to have to make...

  • My dad did this diet many years ago (when the shakes tasted like chalk). It helped him lose, but when he stopped he reverted back to old habits and gained it back. He's since reduced overall calories and has lost an amazing amount of weight.
These shakes taste pretty good now and if you don't revert back to your old diet once you're off, then it is a good way to start your weight loss. It's not really about which diet you pick, just as long as it makes you feel good about doing it.
I've done some that I was miserable at and couldn't lose a thing because of that constant stress of self deprivation.
    Good luck with your journey!

My go to low cal chicken dish is chicken cordon bleu. Bake 425° for 20-25 minutes: a butterflied boneless, skinless chicken breast stuffed with ham deli meat and a slice of swiss cheese. For the marinade & sauce, I wisk together mustard, soy sauce, and syrup. It is always devine!
