How long have you been trying to lose weight?
How much weight did did you 'gain'?
Is your exercise routine new?0 -
Can you open your diary?0
-
This^^^^^^^^^^. You're not giving much info here. How many calories has MFP given you, are you logging---weighing and measuring, your stats--height, weight, age, how much you want to lose...... All these things are necessary to see where you're going wrong. Nobody has a crystal ball. We go by what you tell us, and it's not enough. Best.0

Not in a deficit if you are gaining.0

You need to elaborate more. You can't gain weight in a deficit. Your weight doesn't fluctuate day-to-day so make sure when you weigh yourself it is at a consistent time.0

I think she quit MFP0

She doesn't appear to have deactivated to me, though that's been buggy lately.
It's really not uncommon for people on these boards to ask for help and then not come back for the follow-up questions. It's been my experience that about half won't come back to their posts, though some do a day or two later. There's still a chance that she'll reappear and give us more information.

Yeah, not quite sure what's been up with some people's accounts lately. I've been running into active people who have said they are deactivated.0 -

You are most likely gaining muscle weight. Stick with your plan. In six weeks you will see remarkable changes! It happened to me so trust me.
Make sure you eliminate or limit processed foods. Choose foods low in sugar under 5 grams.0 -

Given that we don't have any idea how long she's been at this, what her protein goals look like, what her workout routine looks like, or even know anything at all about her diet and exercise, I think it would be premature to suggest that anything is the "most likely" cause of her weight gain.

Nobody is gaining muscle on 1300 calories a day.... go take a gander at the bulking thread and see what those guys are doing to gain muscle. It's just not that easy.
There is no need to limit or eliminate processed foods, and sugar (as long as you are eating in deficit) will not hamper weight loss.0 -
I've been there, and I waited too long to see a doctor. I'm very lucky that I'm not extremely sick.
If you don't normally go to doctors, please go to one and ask to have your bloodwork checked. You could be completely normal, or you could have something that needs to be treated.
I hate to be serious, but I really wish I had talked to my doctor about my weight gain (as well as other symptoms earlier). Do any of the symptoms here sound like you?

Are you SURE you're eating 1300 cal? Unless you're weighing and measuring your food, it's easy to underestimate.0

Try squatting, lunges, push-ups, sit-ups... for a week. That will pump you up in the beginning.
Processed foods are not good for you. You should fuel your body with healthy nutrients whenever possible.0 -

Indeed. Before starting any diet and fitness plan it is wise to get your labs.0 -

You mean I can gain muscle on 1300 calories doing the above workout for a week? Sweet! I'm gonna be so hot, let me get right on that.....
Uhhhhh. Nope.

Nobody should be diagnosing the OP with medical conditions, exercise issues, or macro problems based on what she said. Until she provides her stats and opens her diary there is no way to tell, and blindly diagnosing her will just confuse her more. Geesh
Listen to the peeps with lots of experience who responded to you right away OP and give them more info, they will set you on the right path...0 -

If you have a significant amount of fat to lose and consume enough protein.0 -
atypicalsmith wrote: ยปI think she quit MFP
Yep, she definitely isn't looking for help. 1300 calories a day? If that's all she eats, and even if all she does is sleep all day, she should still lose at least half a pound each week.0 -

Strike 3...you're out.
Yes, you can make newb gains eating at a slight deficit if you have a lot to lose and are new to working out...but if you have a "significant" amount of fat to lose, 1300 calories is going to be such a drastic deficit that even newb gains are going to be nil.0 -

Still no.
The average woman (if you research) is likely to gain 3-5 lbs of muscle PER YEAR while bulking. We just don't have the testosterone. Telling someone they're gaining muscle on that kind of deficit is irresponsible.

Temporary retention of water for muscle repair is not muscle gain. And nobody on this thread was asking you for help. The OP has yet to return, so any 'help' you have offered as been based on your own assumptions from the OPs original obscure post.
And, you're still wrong.0 -
