im single and i dont hate it
because its a good excuse to drown my sorrows in candy mmmm candy0 -
I'm married and not a big fan of it - over commercialized etc0

I feel like it's primarily for dating couples anyways... Most married people I know might get a card or something but they don't celebrate by doing any of the over the top stuff...0

I only hated valentine's day in high school, and it was probably because I had just broken up with someone. As an adult, it's never bothered me even when I was single.0

This is the funniest thing I've read today. Thank you!

Sorry all you happy couples that love it!
It's probably because I'm single every Valentine's Day.
Please tell me I am not the only one that cannot stand this holiday?
you know what the difference between you and a calendar?

I'm content with Valentines Day- I don't 'expect' anything... I adore seeing couples enjoy one another those getting flowers & I'm free to treat myself & accept a dinner 'if' I like.... ( I can appreciate this today) because after being married so many years & ignored I think it hurt worse. So now divorced... Healed...& Free... I can appreciate & not 'expect' nothing..0

It's just become another commercialized holiday. Candy starts showing up in stores on Jan. 1 and cards are way overpriced!0

Nah, tongue.
At this point, I'd settle for either.0 -
Spent at least a dozen in my adult single on VD, so no big deal. Pretty much every holiday only serves to highlight that I lack a SO and have no nuclear family to speak of anymore, so it's no more or less depressing than any of those.
What's annoying is the over-the-top declarations of love and endless thread of pics of 2 dozen red roses posts in my newsfeed on FB. Especially when posted by friends whose marriages I know darn well are in serious trouble. Such a farce.0 -

I'm single, not involved with anyone, so I got pink cupcakes for the security desk in my building and I'm going to post a Valentine on Facebook tomorrow.0

I've always loved Valentines day whether I have been single or in a relationship. I've received a card every year for as long as I can remember (those anonymous ones were probably from my parents but it made it exciting anyway lol). Now I'm in a long term relationship with 5 kids it serves as a reminder that we need to make time for one another and not just be parents. Of course we try to do sweet things for each other throughout the year and have romantic dinners every now and again once the kids are in bed but Valentines really gives us the push to be a bit soppy and silly like we were in the early days. I agree it has become too commercialised but I tend avoid the shops and make cards, decorations, and food at home so you don't have to be exploited to have a nice time.0

I don't believe in Valentine's Day0
