You can handle this. <3 Instead of focusing on what you are giving up, focus on adding new foods to your days.

Eat lots of frozen, fresh, or canned veggies: (*) broccoli, swiss chard, kale, spinach, romaine, cabbage, mushrooms, asparagus, avocados, okra, cauliflower, bell peppers, snow peas, eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, winter squash, brussels sprouts, cucumbers, green beans.
Eat this: beef, pork, chicken, fish, eggs, dairy, nuts, beans, seeds.
For more oil: eat salmon, tuna, sardines, full fat cheese.
Drastically limit this: bread, pasta, pizza, rice, corn, potatoes, cereal, fruit, popcorn.

Check out the recipe forum here for new great ways to cook veggies: :)

Low carb tips when you have to eat out.

Breakfast- order your sausage and egg biscuit without the bun. It is awfully hard to say no to that bun when it's right in front of you.

Lunch- anything with bread or beans is full of carbs. Like breakfast order your burger without the bun and avoid bean burritos.

    LC group here in MFP.

The best thing you can do is get a kitchen scale, and start out making as much of your own food at home as you can. Weigh and write it down as you cook, and log it every day. Once you have a week of meals on screen in front of you, you can start to see where your problem areas are.

Use this script (only works on computer, not the app) to isolate your net carbs into its own column, to have a better idea of how you're balancing sugar to fiber:

Get used to the mindset of getting more calories from protein and fat than you do from carbs, don't be afraid of things like cheese or butter or mayo.

After the first two weeks of eating low carb, you will love it. The first two weeks you go through withdrawl so just stick with it and you'll be ok after that. My suggestion is to start out under 20g of carbs a day (atkins website will be a lot of help) You want to get rid of the cravings by eliminating carbs and sugars. Staying under 20g of carbs will do that. Get your carbs from vegetables that are low in carb. I have been staying under 20g of carbs since July because it is so easy. I have lost 93 pounds so far.
