All I think about all day is about how unhappy I am with the way that I look, but I never seem to be able to make the necessary changes. Instead I end up feeling so bad and I comfort eat I Guess. I'd love to be one of the success stories. Can someone help me to change my perspective on using food as a comfort and maybe tell me their stories on how they finally took the plunge and gave this their all?

  • Girl, I have the same struggles as you. Sometimes I get so disgusted when I look in the mirror that I decide "screw it, I'm just not going to eat". Then I get so hungry that I eat everything in sight. The other day I heard the term "brain hungry". It seemed to make sense...am I body hungry, or just brain hungry? These are some remedies I have decided I'm going to try. Take some vitamines, chug a bunch of water, busy myself with something else to get my brain off of thinking about food and last but not least....no more eating in front of the TV. I have to disconnect that brain habit where TV = snacking. I am trying to substitute it with different flavors of tea, so that TV = tea. We'll see how that goes. This is just week one of giving this a try. You want to try it too for a couple weeks, then we'll compare notes?

I hear you. I was that way for years, and every year the weight kept creeping up and up, so I hated myself more and more.

What finally snapped me out of it was realizing that I have an emotional addiction to food--and a physical addiction to sugar. I had kind of jokingly used the word "addiction" to describe it before, but once I actually started counting calories and checking my weight more often, it became very real to me.

I sought help from a nutritionist and went from there. After staying in ketosis for a week it was much easier to break from eating sweets all the time and gradually the emotional dependence on food started to shift away. I had a great deal of mental clarity after I stopped choking down sugar as well. Hope this helps! Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
