Intermittent Fasting or Warrior Diet

Has anyone tried it. What were your results. I'm currently at 148 and trying to go down to 135 by the summer if possible. I currently do treadmill HIIT 3 times a week and just started adding weight training+1hr walk this past week twice a week. I'm not sure if all of this will work. I've been trying to lose weight for over a year and nothing seems to work. I lost 10 pounds since December by just getting an up24 and making sure I hit the 10k steps every day and ate 1300 cals a day. The problem is that I love working out at high intensity it keeps me sane but I also want to look lean. Thank you for your input.

I do intermittent fasting. Well, kind of. I drink coffee in the morning, then lunch in the afternoon, and of course dinner. This has worked out really good for me combined with eating 1600 calories and the right macros. I've seen results with no cardio, only heavy lifting, so it seems like with your hiit it might work even faster? I went from 153 to 145 in a couple months0

Try it out, don't eat food until your absolutely starving. 8 hour breaks between meals, eat only low calorie foods.
Think of the Muslim holiday Ramadan the Muslims only eat when the sun goes down. At night and then fast all during the day for an entire MONTH a whole 30 days.

It's funny that this post should pop up, I was doing some research into this myself earlier!
I'm interested to see if this has worked for anybody and how they found it!
I should imagine that it is pretty hard to keep u with over any sustained period of time and I can't see it leaving you feeling too full of energy by part way through the following day! That said, I have never done it so I could be completely wrong!!!!0 -
Thank you Rob I started intermittent fasting last week and found it pretty easy. With the three meals a day thing I felt like I was constantly planning my next meal instead of focusing on my day. Intermittent fasting felt like a vacation for that week but it's too soon to see if it's going to work. Yesterday I came across the warrior diet and what caught my eye was someone saying that digesting your last meal lasts about 8 hours and so technically on the 8/16 fast you're only really fasting for 8 hours instead of 16. And 16 hours total fast works better or something like that. I'm all up for the challenge. I'm going to attempt to do the warrior diet today. It's 1pm here and so far so good. Just finished hiit at 12mph on high intervals (I'm 5'5 ) and it felt good. I'll keep updating my results. Thank you everyone else.0

Also another reason for my post was that I read somewhere that fasting for women might be detrimental. So anyone females out there that have tried it, I'd greatly appreciate it if you shared a little of your experience. Thank you guys.0

Seems like many people do the 16/8 without any planning, especially if they aren't early breakfast eaters and really likely if they don't eat breakfast at all. Dinner/Supper at 6 pm then nothing until 10 the next morning would be 16 hours of fasting. This really seems like a no big deal thing, to me.

I just skipped breakfast for the first time yesterday. It was great, I had so many calories left over for dinner. Yes I was hungry in the morning but it was worth it. I did it again today! By the time I get home from work I'll only have eaten 600-700 calories. Yeah! Big dinner again tonight x0

I was pretty much doing 18:6 or 19:5. Gave it up when I had an issue with my period stopping and then restarting a day or so later. I found it easier to stay in my calorie limit doing that. I am currently doing 14:10 (which seems to be the recommendation for women) and would rather go back to a shorter eating window.0

I did alternate day fasting for 4mths, I lost 24lbs.
The last month has been a struggle my down days have all turned into low calorie days. I need to find my groove again!! Up until then, I found it pretty easy. No negative side effects at all.0 -

Yeah intermittent fasting was good for me even though I only did it for a week to see results. I liked not having to think about what to eat all the time unlike regular eating schedules. Also when I was doing regular eating it was hard to meet my calorie goal and carbs not because I was full but because I would feel really drowsy after eating too many carbs. The reason I want to try the warrior diet is because you get to snack on few things here and there (that won't make me tired) before dinner and I also like to eat dinner after 8 because I sleep better. I'll try it for a month and see what happens.0 -

I was always used to skipping breakfast and I was good until 'they' made it a sin to skip it lol and I bought it. To be honest I never had any problems with weight until I started getting into eating healthier (3 meals a day plus snacks).

Wow 24 lbs loss is great. Did you work out at all. How was not eating for a whole 24 hours? That seems hard to do.

It was hard in the beginning, but I got used to it after a couple of weeks. I do the 500 calories in 36 hours.

I have always eaten from the late afternoon to night (so basically 14:10), and shortening the window to the evening worked fine for me. I even started running while doing 18:6.

Don't let it put you off of IF. It's barely been studied in women, and most women don't seem to have menstruation problems. I don't even know for certain that's what caused my stop/restart--if I have an issue this month, I will see a doctor.0 -

Thank you for the link. I started reading it but couldn't finish it. I'll plan to finish it soon though. As for the WD I actually like it...a lot..I like how I feel physically and mentally so I will continue doing it for as long as I can. The only problem I've encountered was that this past Friday I wanted to have a Nacho night with the kids and well beans cauliflower broccoli cabbage and all the other healthy stuff I ate plus the cheese and a few chips gave gas like a mo'fo. It was so bad that I couldn't eat at all on Saturday due to being so bloated. I wasn't sure if it was a bug or just too many gassy foods. Needless to say yesterday I took a break from the WD and ate soup all day. Today I'm back on it since I feel much better but I'll make sure I'm more careful on nacho night lol.

I've found intermittent fasting really easy to maintain and feel like it's given me a better understanding of my actual hunger signals. I have no problem skipping breakfast and lunch, then having a small dinner on fast days.
The best part for me has been that I can still have everything I love, rather than having to stop and think how something will impact my carbs/fats/proteins, or whether or not foods are on the "allowed" list. So far as the paleo for women article goes, I read it a while back and thought it looked like a good example of confirmation bias. I've seen similar on LCHF blogs where the people are adamant that fasting causes binging, no exceptions!
Anyway, I think either option is worth a shot, with the 5:2 diet being a bit less restrictive in its approach. Good luck!0 -
I did 5:2 and lost 40 pounds. Still do it for the amazing energy and have kept it off for almost 2 years!! HIGHLY recommend.0

I've lost 75 pounds with the warrior diet and I don't skip any meals. I just eat small items every 2 hours. Breakfast - banana, snack - cottage cheese, lunch - banana, snack - yogurt w/honey, snack - orange, snack - almonds, then I eat when I get home - salad, steamed veggies, rice, fish and peanut butter sandwich. This is just an example of my regimen throughout the day.0
