Hi, I am doing my first 6km Lake Fear event on saturday its an obsticle style race and its mostly in the water ( im slightly regretting the decision as its going to be freezing!)
Im wondering if i should be eating any differently before the event, i know its not a big distance but as its in the water im imagining it will take about 60 / 70 mins to complete and water is going to be about 12* with air temp is due to be about 9*
My diet is generally pretty well balanced, any advice would be great !

You should never experiment with your diet at race time. It is a recipe for problems.
That said, the traditional meal before an endurance event for many athletes is a big pasta dinner the night before. (carbo loading)
Frank Shorter has always joked that he carbo loaded on beer the night before he won the Olympic marathon in 1972.0 -

Nope. Eat as normal - not long enough distance/time to warrant anything different.0

Rule #1- don't try anything new pre-race. Just stick to what you know.
Good luck and stay warm!0 -
Cool thanks, works for me!0
