I will start P90X on Sunday (May 15). I'm a little scared I won't follow through and therefore I have joined this website. I have Crohn's disease and Ankylossing Spondilytis. I was diagnosed in 2000. I have tried all sorts of medications but the only thing that makes me feel normal is the Predisone. I've been on it for about 3 years now and it's been a mission to get off of it. Every time I lower the dosage, I get sick again. Needless to say that the steriods have sky rocketed my weight. I'm pretty sure I've gained about 50 lbs because of it. I wasn't skinny before that so it didn't help either. My partner and I have been together for 11 years now and it's time to start a family. I am the oldest and always dreamed of becoming a mother. I have spoken with my doctors and they assure me that people with my condition can have a healthy pregnancy and most important a healthy baby. The only setback at this point is my weight. Doctors say I should lose at minimum 40-50 lbs... So here I am. I know I have to get it done. I'm pretty sure I can get it done. I'm a very competitive person by nature. I just need a support system outside of the family. I need some encouragement. That is why I am here. Anybody in the same situation? Maybe we can help each other! : )

    Hi,

I have Crohns too - diagnosed originally with UC in 1994, and re-diagnosed as Crohns colitis around 2003. I found that steroids only worked if I took them all the time, which is obviously not a good thing. Have you ever been prescribed Aziathioprine? I take that along with mescalazine, and (touch wood) it has kept me in remission for a long time, with only a very very rare short term flare up. Obviously, like most drugs there are side effects, but so far I have not suffered any. Feel free to friend me if you would like support and motivation. It may help to have somebody that understands the illness

Thank you so much... I'm am currently on Cimzia and 6MP as well as the steriods. I start to flare after about a week of lowering the steriods to 5 mg... It's been tough but I'm determined to get off of them and start losing weight!
