has anyone tried the 2 week Special K diet and if so was it worth it?

Does it involve you giving money to the company that makes Special K? Then it is a marketing ploy, not a diet.0

I did it for the two weeks. But I was also walking a ton. It's just VLCD that consists of 1 cup of cereal w/ half a cup of non-fat milk for two of your meals, and one "sensible" meal. Now, they incorporate SpecialK protein bars and drinks as snacks. The old one didn't have snacks.0

You can google just about any food and there's often a diet associated with it.
cabbage diet
Milk diet
Cornflakes diet
Weetbix diet
Vinegar diet
Water diet
Egg diet
The list goes on and on

Eat at a calorie deficit.
Do that by eating whatever you choose to most successfully achieve a deficit.
Lose weight by creating a deficit.

I looked at it briefly, too much processed food. I am getting away from eating food that is processed.0

If your usual breakfast is 600 calories and you start to eat 200cal of *insert food* instead then you will gain an extra 400 cal deficit each day.
Id rather eat 200 cal of eggs, sourdough and avocado than special K but

This is just such a marketing scam. There are 120 calories in a cup of Special K - which is hyped as a "diet cereal." But there are 100 calories in a cup of Cheerios and 100 in a cup of Corn Flakes.
So really you could do the same diet using these other cereals. Why isn't that hyped then?
OR you could do this really radical idea of just weighing all your food and eating in a deficit, and you don't have to buy any special overpriced "diet" cereal with the big red K on the box.0 -

It's a little more fortified than other low-calorie cereals. And it doesn't taste half-bad. I eat it as part of my daily meals sometimes, but I'm not doing the challenge again. I lost weight plenty by doing other things.0 -
I tried to join the Special K Diet programme and was rejected! The told me to see my Dr. (because I was morbidly obese) However, my Dr had already told me this and suggested I start a diet/eating programme. Then I looked into the whole programme and realised that it wouldn't work for me anyway - too carbohydrate rich. The more I read the more I realised this is only meant for people who want to loose a few kilos quickly and who don't mind to do the same thing over and over again and in the process make Kelloggs very rich, and definitely not meant for someone like me who is into changing my whole lifestyle - I do not intend to revert back to my old ways, so I am into a long term solution - then I happened on to MFP and eating at a deficit........0

I have never tried this diet...however, I do eat Special K for breakfast every morning. It may be high in carbs, but it's also high in iron, which I am severely lacking because I hate red meat (Not to mention that it's pretty darn low in calories!)0

How do you get rejected from the Special K diet?? You just do it...
I used to have Special K every morning crumbled into my vanilla yogurt for the extra minerals/vitamins...but now I use Whole Grain Total because it's only 100 calories (I usually use 1/2 serving) but has tons more vitamins and minerals than Special K. Total tastes a lot more bland but it's mixed in with my yogurt so it is not noticeable at all.0 -
Not worth it; once you stop buying their products, you'll gain the weight back. Better to go on the 2 week calorie deficit, weighing your food, and exercise diet, and then repeat that every two weeks until you hit maintenance.0

You replace two meals a day with Special K products (like their cereal or protein bars), and then eat a "sensible" meal for dinner. Basically can range from a VLCD intake to an overpriced reasonable calorie deficit that you could get without buying their products.0 -
Whenever I have cereal of any kind I cram the bowl full!! Which is why I don't have it often. A bowl of sultana bran (135g) plus 300ml milk equals 700ish calories. I have zero self control when it comes to breakfast cereals. I love em0

not with special k, but same process using protein shake 2x daily plus 1 healthy meal.
was morbidly obese,doctor supervised my initial weight loss and am now 50kg lighter.
so ,yes,it can work,but it is a simplification of eating less.
move more too,and you could be on to winner.

i would be miserable if that was all I ate….
I like cereal. But yeah, if I had to eat only that for two weeks twice a day, I'd be going bonkers as well. Not to mention, I'd probably be hangry!

This exactly. It's just a VLCD - of course you're going to lose weight eating a couple cereal bars and a bowl of cereal every day. You could also lose weight eating real food and without starving yourself and falling for a marketing gimmick.

There's a lot of sugar in their products, and while I haven't looked at the nutritional info for everything they sell, I don't recall seeing that there's much nutritional value in any of their products.0

My co-workers and I did it. Except no one lasted longer than 3 days. It gets boring and gross very quickly. And then you end up with a pantry filled with stuff that you never want to eat again.
But, I have to say, we each lost 1-2 lbs while we were on it. However, gained it all back in no time.0 -
I know that just eating at a deficit is what it's all really about. I've done that and was able to lose almost 100 pounds from my heaviest weight by eating at a calorie deficit and exercising for the past almost 2 years. But over the past couple of months I've gotten off track and gained about 25 pounds back which I'm so disappointed in myself for. Anyways I'm having trouble getting back to it and just thought this might be a way to kickstart it just by trying this for 2 weeks and wanted to know if anyone else had and what the results were. Thank you all for your help.0

OP - why don't you just enter your stats into MFP and set it to one pound per week loss and eat to that number????0

All I'm saying is if I'm gonna eat tons of sugar, that sugar better be coming from gourmet gummy bears.0 -
In the end you'll be far better off learning to eat a variety of foods in appropriate amounts for your stats and activity. Keeping a diary for awhile can help you with that...eating cereal or whatever for two weeks, not so much...not sure what exactly that's supposed to achieve.0
