I've found very good "luck" with using iifym for eating. I tried just counting calories last year (I'd do 1300cal/day + adding back exercise ones, as MFP suggested), and saw no results. First of the year I started iifym (1600cal/day always) & track in MFP and have seen great results, 1pound/week! Highly recommend iifym!!!

I'm going to be starting IIfym tomorrow! I've had the same problem for the last month other then losing a few "water weight pounds". Any tips for a newbie starting off?

I've realized at this weight that I have a medium-large body frame, so if I lose more weight I'm afraid I may look like a skeleton. My collar and hip bones are very prominent...Sadly, my thighs are still pretty thick, but I'm appreciating them more now. Finally learning to love my body

People are giving you varying goal weights, but I think in the end, you should set small goals every few pounds (depending on how much you need to lose) to see how you like yourself at that weight since we all have different frames and carry ourselves differently.

    Good luck.

    I'm 24, and 5'4" (and a half, I guess)

I've not one to claim i've been overweight at any particular time, but I was making a lot of unhealthy choices largely due to a lack of self love (I've had to bounce back from a severe traumatic brain injury that transpired in 2009 from a car accident).

    SW: 136 lbs
    CW: 122 lbs
    GW: 120.

Basically in my opinion, a combo of some calorie counting and exercise *together* is completely necessary to see real results. I was at 1200 cals/day, then 1550. I've done a myriad of things from CrossFit one summer, to joining a powerlifting club, to starting p90x3 pretty recently, which i love. (and let's be real, it's far too cold to head to the gym every morning anyway right now). FullSizeRender60_zpsc1eb7c42.jpg

You are SO very pretty (before & after)!!! Is that the same dress in both pics? Quite a dramatic difference! Happy for you that you are healthier now after your injury/trauma.

I am 5'4 and 52 years old. I lost 123 pounds. It took me about 15 months and I have been maintaining almost a year. I started out at 268 pounds, I now weigh around 145.

    You're my hero!
I'll be 53 this week (augh!), not quite 5'6"
    SW: 204
    CW: 177
GW: ?? Lowest was ~150 when I got married in 1988, but I wasn't fit. That's my goal now so not sure what weight will be best. I'll just have to wait and see.

I have a very large frame. There's nothing small about me, I have a big head, neck, wrists, hips, calves, ankles, feet...alll of it. So I'm being conservative and making my goal the very top end of healthy for my height. If I get there and want to lose more, I'll do it.

150 is a nice first goal. That was my first goal too.

I'm 5'6" and it's my initial goal weight too!

I didn't really take any before pictures and am too self concious to post any during pictures I have taken but my profile pic is a combo of a picture taken right before I started and one taken a month ago.

I'm right there with you, having a large frame. I have very large feet, hands, wrists, and ankles and long arms, etc., so I tend to look decent at a higher weight for my height. I would still LOVE to get below 140.

Shameful I have yet to post anything on this. I am still working on this, I am a success attitude thing. Just remember, everyone is different and so goals are going to be all over the place. I am 5'6 1/2", small framed, and my GW is 125, maybe more, maybe less. I am more on look and I do want to build muscle too. My current weight is around 138 avg and my start weight was 246lbs. Still working my way down.

Long ways to go, but on the right track... Make sure you take MEASUREMENTS too! that's a real motivator when the scale isn't moving, to be able to see you are still losing inches

Great job! Keep up the great work. We're very close in stats. I'm 35yrs old, 5'4" and currently at 163. So its always good to see results for others. It helps me believe that it CAN be done and I need to stick with it. Again, you're lookin' good. Keep it up! :)

    I'm 36
    5' 7.5"
    SW: 187 (that's from a year ago - my highest was 235)
    CW: 175
    GW: 135-145

The issue here is I have no idea what my LBM is, so my goal weight is going to end up being the weight I am when I like the way I look. I'm wildly flexible with this number because I started lifting. That is a bit of a game changer...

I'm pretty happy now but I'd like to lose maybe around another 10lbs to make high rep bodyweigh for exercises like pull-ups easier

I started between 235 and 240 in March 2012 and I now weight 170-177 on any given day. I am 5'5". I tend to fluctuate 5-10 pounds per week. My goal weight is 165. I am 41. Have been maintaining weight for about 15 months but have droppped body fat. I am a competitive Crossfitter and powerlifter, so even though I never trained for hypertrophy, I am bulky in that I have a LOT of muscle mass. I am okay with that though. I worked hard to get strong! I look normal in clothing but in workout clothes, I am quadzilla. But, they are strong awesome quads that make me good at sports at age 41!

Current Weight (This is early fall but my weight is the same: 170-175). Other than making my weight class, body composition is what matters to me and the scale means very little. I'm nearly obese in terms of BMI!
