I'm about to buy a weight lifting belt for my boyfriend.
Do any of you have any recommendations?
He has a buckle one at the moment but said he would like one that secures with a lever
Thank you in advance

Everyone I know who has one owns an Inzer (and they all seem to love them). Unfortunately I have no direct experience with belts, so hopefully someone else will chime in.
Also, the universal advice I've seen is make sure it's the same width all the way around.
ETA: And Inzer has both buckle and lever.0 -
I can't use one but I've also heard Inzer is the one to go for.0

I've got a lever belt by Grizzly that I love. It's very thick and tough leather. My old powerlifting coach said you can break it in by massaging baby oil into it.

I actually own the Inzer Forever Lever Belt. It's 13mm. They also have a 10mm. It's very thick, durable, and supportive. About 4 inches in height all the way around. I've had it for over a year. I've worn it plenty of times, competed in it, and thrown it. It is near indestructible. Not only that, from what I've heard it has a lifetime warranty. It's a very very good investment, I wouldn't have any other belt.0

I just got an Inzer for my birthday. I haven't used it yet; but that's what my husband had, and he obviously he lives his enough to buy me one.0

That's what she said.
It is! And she loves it... ain't that right Sara?0 -
Belts are an individual thing and depend on what type of lifting he is doing. I like most of the suggestions above but you should probably take him to a good store that specializes in lifting gear and have him pick out one under guidance.0

Ok, I don't feel bad derailing since we're already posting uzis.
I had looked at some other brands but this thread had me looking into Inzer Economy belt. But it seems to list the thickness and not the width. I worry since I am 5'8" I don't want leather digging into my bellyfat. The local stores only have nylon belts or tapered leather belts so I can't really try one on.
DO any shorter folks have issues with wider belts?
Thanks.0 -
Pretty much every belt worth buying is 4" wide. 5'8" is plenty, I have seen tiny little chicks wearing normal belts with no issue (like 5' nothing).0

I would recommend to stay away from the velcro strap ones. Worst feeling ever, mid power lift and ur belt snaps open...ughhh. Anything with actual metal hinge thingys or whatever they're called.0

I am 5 6" and wear a 4" - lots of women shorter than me do also.0 -

Thanks for all the feedback!
I prefer to try things on in person, but not if it means choosing between a tapered belt thats 2 inches in the front or a nylon velcro belt.0 -
I highly recommend bestbelts.net They custom fit them and are made here in USA. Get the athlete belt and pick his favorite color. You will have to have his measurement around his belly button, not his pants size. That will be the middle hole. I have one and most people who frequent startingstrength.com recommend them.0
