Grape fruit is pretty yummy, but I'm not sure if it "burns fat". I'm not sure where you heard that but it's probably a lie.

I've been eating grapefruit a lot lately, because it's in season and I like it. I'm eating at a deficit, so I'm losing weight -- but it's not because of the grapefruit. I say, if you like grapefruit, eat it -- but not because it "burns fat"

No food is going to "burn fat."

The fact that Dr. Oz recommends it, is all the proof you need that it's not true.
Most diets that insist on you eating a specific food like grapefruit also drastically restrict your calories, which is why you lose weight.
You burn fat by eating at a deficit and/or exercising.

If it was easy as drinking juice before a meal, most of us would be thin :)

But grapefruit is yummy, and lower calorie than lots of other snacks, so if you like it, eat it!

Grapefruit is awesome. But not because it has any special health or weight loss benefits. It is simply yummy.

I found this, Mariam_X. I hope it helps!

Swimsuit Slimdown Tip 1: Sip Smart

Before every meal, try Dr. Oz’s secret swimsuit slimdown drink of a choice – a mixture of grapefruit juice and apple cider vinegar. Simply mix 1 cup of grapefruit juice with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, stir, and enjoy. The juice is loaded with vitamin C, which will help you burn fat faster, especially during exercise. In fact, a study showed that people with adequate vitamin C levels burned 30% more fat during moderate exercise than individuals low in vitamin C. Meanwhile, the acetic acid contained in the vinegar may switch on genes your body needs to pump out fat-burning proteins. If you find the drink a bit tart, add 1 teaspoon of honey, which only adds 20 calories, for sweetness. Drink Dr. Oz’s secret slimdown drink before every meal and you’ll literally burn away your fat while enjoying a citrusy delight.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha. Good one! That's funny stuff.

    Oh wait. You're serious?

I would take diet advice from Honey Boo Boo or her mother before I followed Dr. Oz's guides.

If it looks like a duck, and it acts like a duck and it sounds like a duck... it's a quack.

Grapefruit is very healthy for you but if you take any statins for cholesterol, you shouldn't eat it.

    Wow. Strong first post.

OP, it's food... treat it as such. There aren't any magical foods, drinks, or pills that burn more fat. If it were that easy, no one would be fat.

I like to cut it in half and roast it. Yum!

It's a nice low calorie snack.

Grapefruit has an enzyme that interferes with many medications. Eat with care.

Do not combine with DM based cold medicines, estrogen, blood pressure medications, antihistamines, sedatives, or viagra.

There is a sweet/sour flavor to grapefruit that some don't like, but it's one of my favorite fruits. Especially pink grapefruit. Just look at it as a healthy piece of fruit. My Dad is bummed he can't eat it anymore because he is on blood thinner medication.

Just eat it because you like it, OP. But the point about medications is valid, so if you're taking anything, make sure it's ok to eat grapefruit first.

The "grapefruit diet" has been around for eons. I wish losing weight was as easy as eating a grapefruit everyday. But alas, it is not!

I eat a grapefruit almost every day and I'm losing weight!

PS: I also walk about 10 miles a day and ride my bike at least 3 times a week and maintain a 1000 calorie deficit most days. But I'm sure it's the grapefruit that makes the difference.v ;)

It's a delicious fruit...it doesn't burn fat. I wish it were that easy...I eat a ton of grapefruit and I would be lean as all hell right now if grapefruit burned fat.
