Morning all,
I've recently been brought a fitbit and I've can sort of see where I've been going wrong with my approach to weight loss
Currently I have around 1850 cals a day but after taking into account the walking and exercises I do daily I've been burning between 3000 and 3500 cals a day. I'm 5 10 and 203lbs what do guys suggest I should be having to loose weight as I've not had much success.

First of all, devices like fitbit only guestimate calory losses so your actual no. of calories (3000-3500) could be lower.

I'd start by seperating those calories into those burnt during your daily routine (including the walk that gets you to work etc.) and those calories you burn in additional excersizes. Start monitoring the 2nd category only as this is the one you can influence.

Secondly, do you weigh all of your food, even the oil, butter, etc.? Most people guestimate portion sizes and therefore enter lower calory intakes. (We've all been there.)

Thirdly, it's hard to make any further recommendations as you haven't told us your weekly and final goal as well as the time you've been monitoring yourself.
  • Thanks for the reply. The food is weighed but we don't do it for oil or spread. My exercise is done using hr monitor and fitbit. They are usually within 15 - 25 of each other. I average 300 - 350 for exercise 5 times a week doing beachbody program.
  • Oh and I'm looking at getting down to 13 1/2 - 13 stone
