I've been reading different articles in the past about how lack of sleep will limit muscle gain. How much am I at a disadvantage by only sleep 4-6 hours a night? A quick google search brought up this article, but I just wanted to hear your guys input. http://www.buildingbodymuscles.com/How-Lack-Sleep-Limit-Muscle-Gain

I can't vouch from the physical aspects of muscle gain but I can definitely vouch for lack of sleep equating to lack of energy, which in turns equals much more lackluster workouts. So in a roundabout way I think it definitely limits your drive/success, if it does indeed limit your muscle gain physiologically at that point it would make sense to me just logically speaking.

But how bad is it really? I sleep on average 2-4 hours/night. I still manage to get my workouts in, generally. How much damage am I doing?

Your muscles actually repair themselves and grow while you're sleeping or resting, so you could be seriously impacting potential muscle growth by not getting enough sleep. I usually find I get the best results with 7-8 hours sleep.

I can't speak from personal experience- but my brother is a health/lifting nut and packed on 30+ pounds of muscle last year and he always talked about how getting at least 6-8 hours of sleep is crucial. Your muscles need time to rest and your whole body needs time to repair. Try to get a little more sleep. I'm not sure what your lifting workouts look like. But it does help if you do your usual reps and weight and then 1 day every week/every other week you do a "heavy" day and do less reps with more weight.

    Hope this helps you.

You may be getting your work outs in but you are selling yourself short. In orther words, you're minimizing the amount of good your work outs are doing for your body.

Do not confuse surviving or functioning, with improvement and growth.
