Strength training?

Hi all
I have searched the forums but I guess I'm, doing it wrong because I can't find what must be a really common topic: what counts as strength training?
I have been doing only cardio so far but am conscious that I need to include strength too. I do a pilates class once a week, and I'm not sure if that counts as strength or not?
Please can anyone recommend a good strength programme to start strength training? Preferably achieveable at home.
