Is burning 1000 Cals alot?

I burn that at the gym Atleast and am currently trying to get to 2000 but so far I'm getting stuck at 1600 on cardio I never include weight training Cals but anyway is that good or just normal? How many do you burn? And how much should I be eating if I want to loose weight quick ?

What are you doing to burn 1000 calories? If your using the machines their calorie quotes are normally high.0

Depends how often do u do it, do u feel sore after that or have muscle strain and do u eat enough.Because u can not eat 1200 cal and burn 1000 cal, you will burn out.0 -
what are you doing that is burning that much?? i'm on my bike for two and a half hours and i'll burn 1200 calories, but that is once a week!! a 90 minute run might burn me about 1200 calories, but again, once a week!! to aim to burn 1000+ calories a day would be really unsustainable for the average person... geez, probably hard for the average professional triathlete!!0

I think 1000 and even more 2000 burned calories through gym is a crazy amount. It would take me to run 2 to 4 hours a day ( and energy that I simply don´t have). I burn around 500 every day through sports. I´m not a specialist but you look already skinny in your picture, please take care of yourself and don´t obsess over exercise. An hour sports every second day and a balanced 1500 cals diet ( or whatever -20% of your tdee is ) and you´re good to go. ( English is not my native language, whoever finds mistakes, can keep them :P )0

But in general, 1000 calories is alot, and 2000 is beyond overkill. You're leaving yourself open to injury even trying to get that much.0 -

not normal. especially if working out is somewhat new to u. i burn about 300 cals a day doing cardio and twice a week weight training i average 45 min. i dont over do it because i am doing it daily and being new to exercise i have injured myself in the past trying to do too much too soon0

I used to think this way - totally switched away - you will raise cortisol levels and that works against fat loss (speaking simplistically).0

I'm also curious how your burn 1000 calories. I burn around 335 in a HIIT class, 300-350 in spinning, 300 in a PT session. If I did purely cardio it would take me nearly 2 hours to burn that many.0

Agree with what everyone else has said, 1000 cals is a really high goal, and 2000 is pretty much crazy. I'll burn over 1000 during my long runs (10-15 miles) but that's only once a week. Normally I burn 300-500.
Of course, the more you weigh the more calories you burn. So if you are really overweight 1000 might be more realistic. But I think 2000 is too high of goal for most people. Take it easy, slow and steady wins the race!0 -

Someone said to just take half the calories burned on those machines and use that. There's an elliptical machine that I first used when I first joined the gym. It wasn't a regular elliptical, but it's hard to describe it. But it had me sweating, heart pumping, said I lost close to 700 calories for a full hour, but what if that's not true? It sure felt I did.0

Its possible to burn 1000 calories, but it requires a lot of time and effort imo either by duration or intensity. The more you weigh the easier it is. The OP never returned to the thread, but like everyone else I would be querying where she was taking the burns from, her weight, as well as the duration and intensity of what she was doing.
1000 calories is manageable over 2hrs, 2000 is just getting silly imo and youd need rest after.0 -
I got almost 1000 exercise calories yesterday but that took and hour of Zumba, 20 mins of intervals on a gym bike and around 3 miles of walking. How are you measuring it?0

I would be surprised if I burned 1000 calories exercising a week...and I go 5 days.0
