gym routine help!

ok so ive always went to the gym and done mainly cardio and a few machines. needless to say i have never had much toning results. obviously because ive never done much lifting...which i am trying to change! im on a new weight loss journey to lose some weight and tone up my body overall. i like to go to the gym alone because i tend to focus more on what im doing and i push myself a little harder.
so my question is...what should i be doing daily and weekly in the gym besides cardio. where do i even begin with weights and toning??? i am a little self conscious in the gym to begin with so id like to know at least half of what im doing. is there a routine online that you guys could recommend? something that i could follow at the gym? thanks so much!!

New Rules of Lifting for Women, Stronglifts 5x5, Strong Curves are all great beginner lifting programs0

Gyms usually assess new members and give them a program to follow based on a persons goals, and then goes through the program with you to show how to use the equipment correctly. If your gym does not have people around to show you what to do I would be changing gyms.0

i know how to use the machines, thats not the problem. the problem is weight lifting and figuring out what to work on what days.0

Same here! A trainer at my gym told me i need to work on different things each day but im still confused about it a bit. He said some people do cardio everyday and dont lose weight because they need to work on different areas.
He said monday i could start off with cardio, tuesday could be leg exercises, wensday arms , ththursday abs, friday a yoga class and saturday a cardio class like kickbox, zumba etc and sunday rest and start over again.
For toning, i would say lifting weights to start the dumbells and lunge, sumo square0 -

strong lifts is good and easy to followi know how to use the machines, thats not the problem. the problem is weight lifting and figuring out what to work on what days.
depends on how frequently you attend the gym? for example lifting 5 days a week would mean you'd likely have to split your sessions into muscle groups to allow recovery while once or twice a week would mean you could use a more "full body" program
