Just curious as to how you have adjusted your calories to what is suggested here for you. Especially if you are doing the Insanity Workout. How many additional calories have you added to what is suggested here?

It depends on your activity level and what MFP has suggested for you now. I wouldn't go under 1700 calories when doing Insanity. You burn a lot of calories and expend a lot of energy doing the workouts.
EDIT: BTW, I have hypothyroidism also, found out when I was 16.0 -
my friend has hypothyroidism she has hers controlled by thyroxine and in her words "its not an excuse if its controlled to be over weight', she lost over 3 stone. AND IS STILL LOSING WEIGHT!
my thyroid is on the verge of stopping producing thyroxine it has been like this for 2 years now, it is driving me mad, as its not quite bad enough to have it managed but not good enough that i am not exhausted and cold all the time.
good luck on your journeys0 -
just make sure you add every bit of excercise you do so you dont go too low on calories0

Yeah- I am at 1800 calories right now while on Insanity, but wondering if I should scale it back to 1200cal on the recovery/days off?0

Oh, and my thyroid isn't under control yet. I was just diagnosed this past summer and have already been on three different thyroid pills. Currently in process of switching doctors because at last doctor visit I started Armour (which I am feeling better on, but still losing a massive amount of hair, which is turnning white prematurely, dry cracked skin, struggling with weight, deceased sex drive, and memory loss) However, after getting prescribed new pills, she didn't want to do another blood draw for 4mths!! I miss my old doctor (we just moved to a new state this past fall- my old doctor was better with staying on top of my bloodwork)0 -
I've never heard of Armour. I've been on Levothyroxin for years now. good luck with switching doctors, that's very crazy she wanted to wait 4 months after start a new dosage and pill.0

I'm doing P90X and will be starting Insanity soon. I'm at 1500 calories per day - plus exercise which adds about another 500. I'm not losing weight, but don't really need to, I'll find the body comp scale when I finish P90X in two weeks.
I guess I'm wondering why you would decrease your calories then work out a program like insanity. Seem to me like keeping them at your established would be a better route to go. Are you signed up for the custom meal planning with Beachbody, it really is a great way to meal plan. I don't always follow it, as I wish it were more customizable but I get close, and the recipes are super.0 -
First off, I gained prolly about 23 pounds when I got this thyroid problem which was 9th grade..& I was active in sports
I think its great we can all come together
Honestly I'm at 1200 calories a day and I personally stay a little under somedays. its harder to lose weight depending if your pills have leveled out your thyroid i have had my problem for six years...& still not leveled I had my thyroid out over summer. Im only 19 try a week of what you think it best and if it doesnt work try something else
I've lose 7 pounds in three weeks
just push yourself0 -
I have hypothyroidism, but don't add any additional calories to my daily goal unless I exercise. And even then, I usually end up eating all but 100 or 150, or some days I eat almost all of them. My thyroid is under control, though. I take Levoxyl and have been on it (had my dose upped once) since 2002. I have dropped 19 lbs in 5 weeks, and just started exercising again today after a 2 week break, but also had a bad flu last week, so I had no appetite and was under 1200 calories for several days in a row.0

I am also Hypo and lost 26 lbs really fast now I stalled. I can feel that my levels are all over the place. Grouchy/hot/cold/tired/forgetfull/more grouchy you name it! I was glad to see this posted. It reminded me that I am not alone dealing with the lack of a functioning thyroid!0

Hey I was born with hypothyroid and have found it difficult to slim down my whole life.I take Levothyroxine. I started Insanity workout last Monday. I have done a week and 2 days worth of this workout so far and have no seen a difference on the scale. I know its too early to determine weightloss, but for some reason I am still feeling hopeless. I will continue to workout and eat healthy. I am 23, 5'6'', and 165 lbs. I need some hope...any success stories and how long did it take you to lose weight. Thank you0
