Hi guys, I have recently realised I need to lose a minimum of 20lbs and have started the Bilaras loose '10 lbs' in 7 days diet as a way to kick start my weight loss. I eat healthy anyways and for about the past 18 months seem to have slowly gained around a stone and feel really unhappy in myself. Has anyone tried it?

    I don't really think you need to 'kick start' your weight loss with some diet full of arbitrary restrictions.

    I mean, sure, you're going to loose 10lbs if you follow that thing, because it's going to have you eating nothing but fruit and raw veggies and a bit of rice for a week. You're going to be grumpy and hungry, and in the end all the weight you loose will probably just come back because that sort of diet is impossible to maintain. Much of what you loose is going to be water and muscle weight (considering the massive lack of carbs and protein) and not fat.

    Honestly I think you'd be better off just eating normally at a deficit. Diets that recommend eating only grapefruits and raw salads to 'speed up your metabolism' or whatever, are full of it. They just prey off of people who are desperate to loose weight :( You might as well try the Beyonce diet and drink lemon and syrup water for a week. I've done diets like that, and you just end up discouraged by the end.

    Anything that claims it will help you lose 10 lbs in 7 days = Anorexia.

    If you eat healthy, how did you gain the weight in the first place? Perhaps you should weigh & log your food, and discover what you're truly eating.

    10 pounds in 7 days may happen for morbidly obese people, and the 7 pounds is not = 7 pounds of fat (lots of water).

    Skip the fad diets and use MFP (My Fitness Pal). Watch your portions - eat your macros (protein, fat & carbs) - move more, and you'll lose weight.

    The problem with fad diets is that they don't "teach" you anything that helps you keep the weight off.....but that's very good for the $eller.....you'll be back again

    I've been sucker to this sort of thing before. I tried the military diet. I lost 8.5lbs in 3 days & then guess what happened.. It all came back. It's so easy for us to want to try these sorts of diets & fads because all of them promise a couple of things.. Quick weight loss & minimal effort. It never works. It wastes your time. I finally gave up the fad diets & started MFP in Dec 2014. I eat right, count my calories, & exercise 2-3 times a week. I've lost 23lbs so far. Hop on board with us & do it the right way :-)

    10 Pounds in 7 days is little more than water and waste weight, and kick starts are for dirt bikes, not people.

    Thanks guys sum fantastic advice I think logging is defo the way forward I'm Jst feeling really heavy right now n want a quick fix that won't happen & is totally unrealistic! Any really Gud advice in terms of an eating plan wud b gr8 I find being a veggie hard sumtimes in terms of getting the right amount of protein x

    I think the only really difference in the past couple of years has been the amount of alcohol ive began to drink which I think is related to work n stress so I'm only allowing myself a few drinks on a Friday and Saturday will this help?

    You don't need this gimmick. Just clean (no, not eating clean) up your diet and voila....you will lose.

    If it works into your calorie deficit, then yes :) Alcohol is basically just sugary, carby goodness, so it's important to make sure you log it accurately, as it can add up really fast.

    If you think you're drinking more due to stress it'd be a good idea to cut down regardless - maybe work some exercise into your day as an alternative form of stress relief?

    If you do not have much to lose, the is Bilarasis going to be awful.
    That is a good idea of yours to reduce/ limit alcohol as that can add calories to your days.
    As far as being a vegetarian, I eat lots of lentils and garbanzo beans. Also two eggs occasionally or ½ to one cup yogurt. Also almonds because they are lowish in carbs compared to other nuts. I avoid bread and potatoes and those kinds of carbs. I try to save my carbs for broccoli and kale such.
    Also you might like hemp seeds -- they have carbs but also protein.

    Thanks guys 4 the support and advice I will definitely b giving it a try. Defo need to exercise more and cud combat the stress levels somewhat thanks
