I do. I hate it. I hate it more when people call it a 'mommy tummy' because I have it and don't have kids.

    It's fat

Lose the fat and progressive weight train and it'll go .. over time

That's the plan! Mine has shrunk a lot over 25kg. I think it's going to be the worst of my loose skin, but it is definitely shrinking.

Yes :disappointed: Mine IS a mummy tummy but its not very attractive, and I strongly suspect that, at my age, it's not going to just spring back to flat smoothness. However I have noticed its reduction along with my weight loss so every little helps.

Unfortunately not for everyone. I have lost a lot of weight over several years and then I did gym classes 5 or 6 days a week for a year including spinning, abs class, body attack and yoga and although it decreased in the amount of fat in the 'flap' the flap just hung lower. After a year of thinking about it I finally saw a surgeon and 5 weeks ago had a tummy tuck. It was the best decision I ever made. I had over 3kg of skin and flab removed. the difference in my confidence and general appearance is amazing

Don't get me wrong - this is a big decision and the operation is massive, painful and leaves a big scar...would I do it again..yes in a heartbeat!

  • I've got one!
I've lost around 30 lbs. (give or take a few) and I now I fluctuate between 160 (on a really bad day!) and 156 lbs.
I just cannot seem to lose the weight!
I've tried a lot of things, and more recently I've been adding weights too.
If anyone has any ideas as to how I can help get rid of my "mommy tummy" I'd be grateful!

This. Mine is all skin so I know it isn't going to get better. I've done as much as I can with it. You can see my abs so I know it's skin. Planning on a tummy tuck.

You could see my abs too - then a horrid hanging bit of skin - it was not fair, after all the hard work of weight loss and gym - to still be unhappy with your body is really unfair (I spent a year of gym and thinking about the tummy tuck before seeing a consultant and then waited another year to see how it would go - nothing made the flab shrink)

I have one too! I think they are a lot more common than we all think. I had my daughter by c section 10 years ago. I was overweight before pregnancy so I know I am fighting a tough battle. I have lost almost 4 stone over 2 years so far and still have a 'matrons apron' as my sister calls it!

It is going really really slowly and I know that I will have loose skin even when my body fat is reduced. We are not in a financial position to think about a tummy tuck.

I have learned to just tuck it in my spanx and carry on! My husband loves me as I am, the rest of me doesn't look too bad (for 42!) and I am learning to love myself.

Yep, I have one too. Hoping to see less of it as the weight reduces, though i dunno if it will ever disappear completely :(

Yes I agree you can be left with excess skin that only a surgeon can help with but in general at the start it's fat, and then the skin can take up to 2 years to 'shrink' as much as it possibly can

...excess skin is a lot more papery / puckered than a fat overhang
  • I would love a tummy tuck but I plan to have more babies so that's a no go for me.
I'm happy with just reducing the size of the overhang just so I can get smaller jeans on :)
I've kept all my smaller clothes so I can see when it's reducing size .... 2 holidays this year so need to shift some of this unwanted fat haha

Yes, I hate it. :( It's the reason I have to wear bigger jeans...when they fit around waist, they are too big everywhere else. Ugh.
