Weightloss Percentage Formula

Can anyone tell me the formula for figuring out your weightloss percentage? For instance, if I lose 4 lbs and i weigh 170, how would I figure out what percentage of weightloss that is?

Thanks!
Shelle

    4/170 = 0.0235 x 100 = 2.35%

loss weight divided by total weight

    4 divided by 170 =

    2.35 percent

Don't forget that you divide it by your starting weight, not your current weight.

So if you originally weighed 174, and you now weigh 170, it's 4/174 = 2.22%

    23 / 292 = 0.0787 x 100 = 7.87
does this mean i've lost 7.8% of my starting body weight??

    292.5 (SW) - 226 (GW) = 66.5 / 292.5 = 0.227
so when i reach my goal loss i'll have lost 22.7% of my orig weight???
if that's correct then that makes it sound like a lot :o)
and means i', around a third of the way there :o)

So week one: loss 4 lbs from 170 = 2.35
Week two: loss 2 lbs down to 166 = what?

    so 6 (4 + 2) / 170 (SW) = 0.0358 * 100 = 3.52 %

sorry to make this complicated but I need more info:

Me and my friend is competing on a WEEKLY basis on who lost the most. So how do we figure that percentage up? Do we use the beginning weight of our whole journey or do we use weekly pounds loss minus last week's weight X 100?

    Thanks!

i think weekly 'who lost the most' should be done on percentages, and each week should be separate
ie change the startign weight in the formula each week
if you are similar weights, you could just look at the lbs lost....

This is really putting it into perspective! Thanks for asking this question, I hadn't thought to even figure this out.

As of right now, I have lost 12.33% body weight since Feb 2011!!
