I'm guessing this is a mistake but don't know how to let the app devs know. One dole banana says 132 grams of saturated fat

Well if it were true that would mean a banana has almost 1200 calories. Coincidentally the 132 is pretty close to the calories in an average size banana.

Please search for "bananas - raw" and use this non-asterisked (MFP-entered) food item.

You know you can change it yourself, at least on the website. I just found it and corrected it. The calorie count was 105 with sat fat at 132g.

In my opinion the one big shortcoming of the MFP database is people adding their own foods. I wish there was an official database and a user submitted database that was completely separate from each other. As it is they are all lumped together and creates a lot of confusion.

This right here. And it's true for pretty much all basic foods - search the plural of fruits and veggies - bananas, apples, strawberries, potatoes, etc, and you'll find accurate entries with ALL the nutritional info, and options for grams, ounces, etc. (use a food scale and weigh in grams whenever possible!). Same with meats, eggs, pretty much every food I eat, I have found the most accurate entries, and since I eat them regularly, they are always in my frequent or recent list of foods and easy to add to my diary, changing portions as needed.

Someone made a Chrome extension that puts the option to include/exclude user-created entries in your MFP search. It's called MyFitnessPal Search Filters. I don't know if they made one for browsers besides Chrome. It's a nice thing.

I have no idea why MFP itself has never added the option. It would be simple to do. Maybe they don't want to highlight how many of the entries are user-created?

The already do highlight them. That's was the asterisk means.

What MFP really needs is a search that automatically prioritizes search results this way:
    1. Foods that I've selected in the past, i.e. search through all my recorded foods first. Sometimes it takes me a while to find something and it would be nice if MFP remembered this.
    2. Non-starred entries
    3. Starred entries in order of how many user validations they've received.

... and 4. entries from same country as user, which they'd need to start tracking.

Lots of entries that seem wrong are not - it's just a product with the same name, made or packaged slightly differently for another country.
