Help ! So tired.

Monday I started to eating cleaner. Lots of fruits veggies chicken eggs etc, but now on my third day I seem to have no energy !! I'm in college and I need my energy for school work ( I have a midterm tomorrow!) so can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong !?

If you log everything correctly and open up your diary, we can take a look.
Do you drink caffeine? Coffee or tea? Did you used to and you cut that out this week?0 -
Once I figure out how to do that, I will! I have around 1900 and a small cup of coffee mid day0

Perhaps it's midterms and you're just tired? Perhaps you're getting sick?
I can't see a reason that 1900 calories of whole foods would make you feel bad.0 -
A friend told me it could be my body going through sugar withdrawl ? Is that a thing ? I opened my diary if anyone wants to take a look !0

I'm starting my diet in the morning and this is a problem I've had before, keep us updated with how it goes.0

I was fully expecting you to say like 900. I have no clue, but please keep doing what you are doing. Maybe it's sugar/processed food withdrawal? I have a friend at work who started Whole 30 almost 30 days ago, and she said day 4 she felt like death - all that stuff you used to eat leaving your body, I guess. She said she feels "rock star" now and will continue eating like that. I guess you just have to get through the first week of a change...0

If you're eating lots of chicken, eggs and veggies perhaps you're just not getting enough carbs and/or fats. I can't say your diary so I can't say for sure. But often when eating well I get exhausted. I look at my diary and realize I've accidentally had very low fat or low carbs that day. Especially if you're eating lean meats and tons of veggies.
I throw in a pb and banana sandwich in the middle of the day or pre workout and it makes all the difference :-)0 -
@kristen6350 I'm thinking that's the case ! Hopefully I get over this bump fast ! @slaite1 I have been considering that as well going to start adding more pasta and carbs overall to my diet0

I would personally NOT add more carbs, you're eating well over 200 grams per day.
And as part of that you had 190 grams of sugar (mostly fruit).
However, if you still feel BLAH today, swap out the cereal for a more hearty breakfast. Something with more fat.
Eat more leafy green vegetables and a bit less fruit.
And eat some legumes rather than all the fruit. Legumes are great for giving you energy.

I have been tired for five weeks straight since eating cleaner but nothing is working either. I have tried vitiman b12 and that seems to be helping a bit, and sometimes green tea does too0

Add more fat and leafy greens. Or, if not leafy greens, other low calorie vegetables like cucumber, yellow squash, zucchini, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower. More fat is good too like adding a table spoon of butter or other fat or oil.0

It really depends on your body. For me, a high fat, medium-high protein, and low-carb diet is what gives me the most energy. That, and I've been getting 8 hours of sleep and taking a daily multi-vitamin, probiotics, CLA and Fish oil....all which have made a surprising difference in how I feel (and look). Looking at your diary, it seems you consume a lot of processed sugar and minimal vegetables. Processed sugar is like a drug, and it can definitely be what is making you tired. And it's found in many things you don't really think about...like granola bars and cereal. I found this article pretty interesting in terms of body type pertaining to diet and exercise. It does take some time to get the sugars and whatnot out of your system. I definately felt that tiredness in the beginning. Even now i like to have my cup of coffee. Pay attention to exactly what is making you feel that way. I know for me, things like a bowl of cereal would knock me on my butt for several hours! No idea why it did, too many ingredients to isolate, but cutting it out made a huge difference.0
