How many calories does weight training count for?

MyFitnessPal is a nice app, but it doesn't give any credit for weight training, in terms of deducting calories. I'm curious how others factor this in--or maybe don't. Any ideas?

I log all activity using fitbit. For weight training (I am doing New Rules of Lifing For Women) the activity description I use is: Weight lifting (free, nautilus or universal-type), light or moderate effort, light workout, general My last session was 45 minutes and it gave me a 118 calorie burn. My guess is it's more than 1 and less than what it feels like (which is why I chose the light/moderate effort descriptor).0

It's hard to say. I logged 28 minutes of it on my Fitbit yesterday and it gave me about 60 calories. Doing the same on MFP (under cardio) says twice as much. But between the amount being lifted, the number of sets/reps, and rest/load/deload time you can't really come to a true number.0

Under cardio (of all places) in MFP, there is "Strength Training" and I log the time there. It gives me something like 90-120 cals for my 20-something minute workout. I don't really eat back my exercise so it doesn't matter to much anyway, but I like to log it and pretend it's accurate lol.

I use TDEE and count it the same as every other exercise I do, 1 calorie no matter how long I do it. You can log it under cardio as strength training. I think 60 minutes is something like 270 calories in the DB.

Thanks for the ideas. I do log under Strength Training, but I haven't noticed that I'm getting any calorie credit--I'll look more closely. I appreciate all the input, thanks!0

again...type in "Strength Training" in the Cardio section.

You can log the amount of time for "strength training" under the Cardiovascular section to get an estimate for Calories burned. You can use the Strength Training section to log sets, reps, and weights, but that section does not account for the amount of time or Calories burned.
Add "Strength training (weight lifting, weight training)" to Cardiovascular to get estimated Calories Burned added to your Diary. Please note that the Calories burned for Cardiovascular exercises are estimates for a general population and may differ for you as an individual. If desired, add individual strength training exercises, such as "Biceps Curl," to Strength Training to have a log of sets, reps, and weights as individual exercises.
