My mom use to add; cuccumbers, chopped sweet pickles and celery. I like to add slivered almonds, extra protein with crunch0

I mix mine in with some pasta. Makes it taste like lasagna!0

Bumping for the waffle idea!!0

I mix mine with sugar free jello. 1 large container of cottage and 1/2 pack of sugar free jello then let it set for at least 3 hours. I will remix the mixture about 1 1/2 hours then remix it before i eat it. I have never tried the sugar free pudding instead of flavored jello but I am going to give it a try.0

I only tend to eat mine as a savoury cheese, on top of crackers/ryvitas/dutch crisp breads/melba toasts/rice cakes or with salad/veggies.
It is also AWESOME seved with toasted pitta bread strips as a dip.
try mixing it with the following:
*1 tsp green or red pesto (Oh sooooooooo yummy!!!)
* Chopped fresh chilli pepper & Corriander (Cilantro)
* Harissa paste (Morroccan red paste)
* thai sweet chilli sauce & Chopped red bell pepper (Delicious!!!)
* Garlic & Herbs
* Chives
* Mint & cucumbers (Tzatziki style)
* Chopped up hard boiled egg & cress
* Fresh cherry Tomatoes & basil
* Sultanas, 1tsp mild curry powder & 1 tsp mango chutney (Coronation style).
* Sun dried tomatoes & herbs
* Hot sauce
* Chopped spring onions.
Play around with it )0 -
Yummy! Love it! As mentioned, watch for the salt/sodium levels. And some brands have added creme fraiche, so can be much higher in fat than you'd think. I stick with 'virtually fat free' brands
Take about a cup of CC and chop in one hard boiled egg.
In my head this tastes like luxury egg mayo and I eat it all the time
CC carries flavours well, so add a little light mayo if you want.
Bril with salad, on tattie...or just on it's own I often have it to fill me just before a workout, as it's light but keeps me going til tea time0 -

Mixed with avocado it's good. Or in baked potatoes.0

I love it with just pepper, but have given it up now because I can't find one that is low in sodium. What is up with all the damn salt already?!0

My favourite since I am a cheese-hater is to make my Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie w/ frozen strawberries (1 cup halved – I buy fresh, cut them in half then freeze), vanilla (1/2 tsp), cottage cheese (1/2 cup Nordica reduced sodium fat-free), sweetener (2 0-cal packets), blend until smooth (you may add ¼ cup of water if too thick).
Nutrition: 192 cals, 346mg sodium, 31g carbs, 6g fiber, 0g fat, 19g protein – makes 1 serving.
Here’s my pic:

We like to make mock rice pudding with it. Add a splash of vanilla, some cinnamon, a couple packets of stevia, and raisins. So good. I also like to add some sunflower seeds for the salty/sweet thing. Even my cottage cheese hating hubby likes it!0

I'm acutally eating some right now! Mixed it with Pico de Gallo (or you can cut up your own tomatoes, onions, cilantro, or salsa), pepper, diced avacado. Makes it a bit chunky and eat it as a dip with sliced cucumbers. Gives a variation to the sweet additives. Tasty!0

A bunch of terrific ideas here!
I use cottage cheese as both a sweet and a savory base (not at the same time), in many of the ways that have already been posted (and many I haven't tried yet).
Also, I use it in recipes as a substitute for ricotta cheese.0 -
This may sound totally gross, but trust me, it is pretty good. I used to make a skinny cheese danish out of it. Take one slice of bread, put however much cottage cheese on it, sprinkle some artificial sweetener and a little bit of cinnamon. Then, put it under the broiler until it is warm/mushy/creamy (pick your adjective). It is quite tasty!!0

as a sweet treat i mix in vanilla bean paste & about a teaspoon of mini chocolate chips. hits the spot if you need to fulfill your sweet tooth.0

Hey all,
I just tried cottage cheese for my first time the other day and I didn't mind it and I noticed how good the nutrition is and I think it'd be a great way for me to get my protein, but it kind of grosses me out just eating it plain. How do you eat your cottage cheese? Do you put it on bread? Do you mix it with something?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!!
currently I'm taking a break from dairy to help weight loss along, but when I did enjoy cottage cheese, I usually had it with berries and a tiny bit of stevia0 -
I like Cottage Cheese NON-FAT with Salsa.0

Love it with garden fresh tomatoes - however, one warning about Cottage Cheese ... it is VERY high in sodium! So if you have to watch that - beware! I never realized it until I had to watch for it!
I agree on both accounts0 -
I like Breakstone's low sodium cottage cheese when I can find it.
The good ol' stumptous page has lots of good ideas here: http://www.stumptuous.com/the-cottage-cheese-page0 -
This is how I LOVE it::
1/2 cup cottage cheese
cut up apple
1 splenda
1/2 - 1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
As far as the sodium I only eat it when I haven't had alot of sodium already that day. I tried Friendship low sodium and it was AWFUL!0 -
Fresh fruit is my favorite... Or Tomatoes with a little seasoning.... another thing I have yet to try but sounds good is a little canned pumpkin and nutmeg. mmmmm0

rock on!0 -
I love it mixed with fresh diced tomato (especially when in season) and lots of cracked black pepper. I have friends who use salsa when the tomatoes aren't in season, tried it a couple of times and it's definitely not for me!0

Oh if you like chocolate, I highly recommend scoring some MojoMilk. What is it? Think of nesquik powder. Now imagine the healthiest version possible. Add probiotic. That's MojoMilk. You can mix it with just about anything.
Chocolate cottage cheese FTW!0 -
I add cottage cheese on top of a warm English muffin and I add it to lasagna [I've been experimenting with a couple of veggie lasagna combos and I like that I am getting plenty of protein from the cheese.0
-
I love to dice cucumbers and tomatoes with a lil black pepper mixed into the cottage cheese0
