I need help. I was diagnosed with Celia's disease over 8 years who. So I eat extremely clean. Right now I eat around 1000 calories a day. Mostly veggies but some fruit in the morning and mostly chicken. Nothing processed or packaged ever! I work out for 1 1/2 hours in am and walk for 1/2 hour at night 6 days a week. I do a mix of Pilates, weights, yoga, dance. In the last month I have gained 8 lbs which I have not weighed in over two years and now I can't get it off but keep going up! I am very frustrated as my clothes are too tight now and I feel the extra weight.

Unless your 6 years old your not gaining weight on 1000 calories a day. I suspect there's more going on than your admitting to.0

Saying you eat "around" 1000 calories is meaningless unless you are truly logging what you eat.
I used to think I knew "around" how much I ate. I was also all... oh, I'm a clean eating whole foods celiac vegetarian!!!!
I was simply eating too much for my height and age.
I didn't find this out until I started logging my food intake.
Get a digital food scale. Weigh your solids, measure you liquids.
Log what you eat.
Find out what your actual intake is. Go from there.
Use this site or an online calculator like scooby's or iifym's to calculate a deficit to lose weight. Continue logging, and you will lose weight.0 -
Go to a doctor. If what you're saying is true, you have a MUCH larger problem than weight gain.0
-
Start to weigh and log your food accurately and with care
Everything you eat and drink
You are eating more than you think0 -
"Clean" does not equal "low calorie." As pp's have said, until you're weighing your food and know how much you're REALLY taking in, you can't say you're gaining weight on1000 cals a day.0
-
The last time I thought I knew how much I was eating it turned out I was eating about 1000 calories more. Is this another one of those cases where someone is convinced because they're eating 'clean' that everything else like calorie control will work itself out automatically?0

Have your thyroid checked! Up your cals - your body thinks it is starvation mode. You may wish to switch your way of eating - Investigate KETO or. LCHF. Just suggestions.0

Celiac and hasimoto thyroiditis have been associated as two auto immune disorders that can happen at the same time. The thyroid is an important hormone producing gland that can cause significant weight gain if it isn't functioning properly. Has your doctor checked your thyroid levels? It is a simple blood test to determine if you have the antibodies present in your blood.0

What are your current height and weight?
Open your diary.
Have you been tested for other autoimmune diseases?0 -
Eating clean doesn't mean, eating in a deficit. Are you using a food scale? Open your diary.0

No, I watch weigh and measure everything that goes into my mouth. I actually cut down my sugar intake (which was from my coffee creamer) right before I started gaining. I seriously can only eat veggies, fruit and non processed meats. I am allergic to everything, soy, corn, rice. Everything constipated me and I swell, so I am very strict on what goes into my body. I noticed the increase again once I cut back sugar, upped my protein (added 4oz chicken breast cooked in either coconut oil or olive oil. If I cut back on anything more I will be starving myself. The doctors acurrently are taking care of a bacterial overgrowth in my intestines so again, had to pretty much cut out my fruit. I'm on a low residue/fiber diet. Checking my digestive system now, I feel like a test rat0

I will discuss my thyroid with them, they tested it about 8 years ago when I was diagnosed with celiacs0

You are eating more than you think. If you are certain that you aren't under estimating your portion sizes then you are probably using the wrong number of calories per ounce.0

What is your weight and height?0 -
Again, if what you are saying is true, go see a doctor.0

I'm 5'2 and I now weigh 110. I was at 102 a month ago. I'm dead on with my food journal0

I see. I'm out.0

Try actually logging your food.
I bet you are eating way more than you think you are0 -

You say this.....yet you have a lot of blank days0 -
I was logged in on my phone in one account and on my main computer as another. I just realized it and lost everything on my phone, so I now have to start my journal over. Not to be rude, but I asked for help not to be ridiculed. I really want help but to get to where I want I know I have to be honest and up front. It would be stupid for me to get on here and lie, I was looking for actual help0

It is very unhealthy to gain that weight in a short time, my joints hurt, my clothes are tight and I can feel the extra weight.0

8pounds?
Sounds like you need to be talking to a professional and not a bunch of internet folks

110 lbs is not overweight for 5'2", and if you are having joint issues, you need to see a doctor to rule out a medical issue, because 8 lbs isn't going to cause joint issues. If you've just started a new exercise program, a portion of that gain could be water weight.
In any event, if you don't believe it's calorie intake issue, which is the "calories in" portion of the equation, then it's going to be a "calories out" issue. Unless you've had a recently drop in your physical activity, the next logical option is a medical issue - in which case, see a doctor. It sounds like you have a lot of medical issues going on already which is going to impact your CICO balance, so there's not much we can really offer as far as advice. Your doctor is the best person to talk to about this.0 -
I am small-boned, 5'2", and weighed between 105 - 110 lbs most of my adult life until I quit smoking. 110 lbs. is perfectly acceptable for you. 102 is way too skinny. Enjoy your 110 pounds. I working on whittling down my 152 lbs! (started at nearly 170).0

I don't think in overweight, the doctors are concerned because of how quick it came on so I was looking to see if anyone had experienced it and could add some light.0

If your doctors are concerned and aware, why are you not seeking answers from them instead of a bunch of internet people that don't know your history?
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you are going to get a bunch of answers you aren't going to want to hear here and it will probably only stress you out more.0 -
It is probably largely water retention. For you to have gained 8 lbs of fat in a month, I mean, you'd notice that much extra intake of food. That'd be like 28,000 extra calories OVER maintenance calories including exercise calories eaten back!
But that said, if you haven't had your thyroid tested in 8 years, you might as well request that.
You also mention having digestion issues (leading you to cut back on fruit for now, if I'm reading that right). That could account for some of it as well, if it is being sluggish.
Have you upped your water intake since going off fruit? Fruit has a lot of water so, depending on what you replaced it with, a little more water might help you.
And yes, if you've recently increased the frequency or intensity of your exercise, or switched up your routine (which is challenging because it's new for your muscles), you could be retaining a lot of water from that. I packed on like 4 lbs when I started doing pilates (and it came back off too, it was just water).
I would say to keep up with your doctor visits and get any tests that you might need. Otherwise, don't panic. I doubt you're packing on fat -- where would your body be getting the calories to do that, if you're not eating them? It can't just make it from nothing. So it will right itself, or a test will show something.0 -
Relax, take a deep breath and call your dr for an appointment. Having your food diary with you will also help.0
