What makes you say that? If OP is eating at a calorie deficit or maintaining calories he should have no problem keeping it off.0 -
Congratulations! That is a huge achievement.0

Everybody who lose weight will gain it all the weight back, and more
Some gain it fast, others gain it in longer period of time. Especially when you lose too soon, youll gain it soon too.-15 -
Congratulations! Well done! Awesome!
I lost 90# in 7 months and an additional 70# in the next 13 months. I have kept it off for 16 months, so it can be done and maintained. You gain weight back by overeating, going back to eating more than you burn.tryitonemoretime wrote: »What do you do?

^^This is not true.0 -

what are your sources? I'm trying to understand why you say that but you're just repeating what you previously said.0 -
Nice work on the weight loss, but I do have a caution.
You generally eat 1000-1400 calories per day. That's not nearly enough to hit your body's various needs. In general people rebound and gain weight because extreme dieting reduces their lean body mass. I hope you will consider increasing your calorie intake for the sake of your health.0 -

The actual statistics show that a very high percentage of people gain the weight back, no matter how they lost the weight.
Losing weight is a difficult thing to do, for all of us, no matter how much we have to lose.
Keeping the weight off, for over 5 years is even harder to do.
Losing the weight is a very big deal!
Congrats again!

No, everybody will not. Science has shown that, if a lower weight is maintained for a long period of time, those previously thought to-never-disappear fat cells will in fact go away. TDEE does gradually go back to "normal." Etc.
Yes, those who lose weight very fast are more likely to gain it back, due to the muscle that is inevitably lost when shedding weight that fast, and muscle plays a role in the amount of calories our body burn. And often, the large number of people who regain weight (or gain even more) do so because they didn't learn lifelong habits: macros, portions, calorie counts, etc... things that MFP is designed to do, versus fad diets that most people gravitate towards.
That being said, though I'm not a fan of rapid weight loss without medical supervision (which I don't know if OP went through or not), there's no way to predict what will happen to OP.
I have to wonder at someone posting that as a response when they also happen to be on MFP.0 -

Not ALWAYS TRUE!! In 2009, the most I lost in one month was 17lbs. (usually stayed around 8-10lbs. lost in a month. I went from 250 to 138 in about 13 months, and have ONLY had trouble with about 20lbs. of those coming and going. Not everyone does. You can't make that assumption.

So you are saying that we are all wasting our time trying to lose weight and be healthy? Why are you even here than?
I say good for Mr. Potts!0 -

Congratulations on finding what works for you & the great success you've found in doing so!!! Amazing results!!! You look like a whole new person when you compare the pictures. Healthy & happy... good job!0

Let me preface this with 100lbs is AMAZING. Really amazing. So, good for you! Also, I'm not a professional nutritionist, so take this with a grain of salt... I flipped through the past couple weeks of your diary and many days are 1000-1200 calories. It seems like that's a really low intake since as a 32 year old female at 5'3" I usually have at least 1400, and never below 1200. For that reason I can see why people would be concerned your weight loss would be difficult to maintain. Are you following a particular program? Make sure you keep it healthy!0

Fantastic! Well done! As for Tryitonemoretime - there is nothing predetermined about peoples health. You can replace bad choices with good ones and not look back same way that some people quit cigarettes and it is FOREVER whilst others fall back into old ways.0

Does not seem like this was done in a healthy way.
Congrats on the weightloss anyway.0 -
Wow, well done you! What an amazing transformation! You are one very handsome man, if I might say. And I'm guessing you're not totally disabled anymore? What is your cardiolgist saying now?0
-
No matter how you've done it you've done it and it's a fantastic accomplishment! I think it's important to be positive on this site. We need encouragement here and not judgement. WAY TO GO!!!!! Keep it up man, you're doing amazingly well!!!!0
-
Y'all who are questioning how he did it and the health ramifications of the low cals might want to read the About me section. It explains the whole thing.
Way to go, Mr. Potts!!
Dear Debbie Downer, I see that you are trying to lose ~75 pounds? Why bother since according to you, it's just all going to come back anyway?

Congratulations!!!!!0

Great job! Make sure you find a calorie level that you can happily and healthily maintain with a fun-filled exercise routine to help you maintain in the long run! I hate the gym but love hiking and swimming and dance so I hope you have something to that makes you happy and active0
