You know what I'm talking about, right? Anyone else craving this stuff? Have you found any substitutes? I miss rice sweets, too. Tell me what you do when the cravings hit!

Eat some.0

I generally eat a small portion along with my meal and just allow for it in my calorie budget.0

I am Hispanic and also come from cultures where white rice is essential.
It took me a couple of years to get used to not having it. I do have very limited quantities of brown rice, and I have two very high-quality white rice dishes every year as special treats.
Other than that, I just say no. It spikes my blood sugar worse than anything else.0 -
I eat rice everyday. I'm losing weight still. Soooo... eat some. Why stop eating it anyways?0

I regularly work in white rice into my calorie goals, as well as rice sweet treats like mochi. I just eat smaller portions of it than I used to.0

Because it is high GI, high in carbs and many people cannot eat that way.
I won't lose/maintain if I eat white rice. It's an absolute no-go for me.0 -

Even if you eat it at your calorie deficit???0 -
I had risotto for lunch, so I'd say just eat what you can fit in your diet.
I've also recently been introduced to the wonders of glutinous rice flour - really like baking with it, such an interesting and oddly appealing texture.0 -
I love rice, it's so nice. Being asian, i eat it almost everyday. No problem losing weight.
Tried brown rice...hate it. white is right.0 -

What is wrong with eating rice? I eat it and still lose weight, just fit it into your calorie allowance.0

There's nothing magical...good or bad...about rice. Fit it into your daily calories and enjoy.0

i love white rice, and its not that crazy in calories. so eat it, like everyday if you want. Id recommend weighing your cooked portion on a food scale for accuracy.0

I eat it0

Eat it less? I try to limit my grains because I know how they effect me. Feel best when I'm eating the whole 30 way. Maybe try 3x a week if you want to cut down more, cut down? If not, just fit into your macros.0

Yes. I have been tracking for years and white rice is just not something I can have regularly. I limit myself to 1/2 C brown rice too.
Grains in general are problematic for me (I have metabolic disorders) but rice is by FAR the worst.0 -

I eat rice 3-4 times a week. Down 26lbs so far.0

It's great to hear some of you do eat rice and still lose or maintain. OdesAngel - I mention Asians specifically as that's the part of my heritage where my rice addition comes in the worst (but yeah, wheat is good too). I love pretty much any rice in most cuisines, but there are times that, given my brain and culture, I feel I can't resist. I'm Japanese so if I even walk by a sweet rice treat my brain just fires. Mochi, oh my god. And in many cultures the rice is essential - used almost as a utensil for scooping up sauces and foods, like in Thai foods.
I decided to eat *reasonable* portions of sushi up now and then and I'll probably just eat it when I go out if there's protein with it. I'm not sure I can store it at my home without BINGING. If I could lose and eat this stuff 3 times a week I'd be pretty happy!0 -
I guess what I'm saying is trigger foods - I'm not sure I can just eat a small portion!0

I'll usually never eat more than a cup of cooked rice at one sitting and even then it's usually only once a day.
Rice isn't bad, just overconsumption.

^Agreed. I have different sized rice bowls (not soup bowls) that I'll use depending on what I'm eating.
I also use a food scale and seeing the amount versus the weight of rice I eat has helped me portion it out too.
Honestly, unless you are planning on giving up rice forever, just keeping logging it and working to decrease the amount until you can balance it out with less stress. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect.
I get wanting to eat ALL THE RICE (am part Japanese too ) but the more you are aware and practice controlling your intake, the easier it gets0 -

Maybe rather than thinking of "cutting back" on white rice, think what you're going to eat instead of it. It's a bit of a mental shift, but if you can think of other foods you are going to use those calories for this can be really motivating and help with achieving your own balance.
I used to eat a lot of bread, but now I find myself thinking "because I'm just having half a slice of bread instead of two whole slices, I can use those calories I've saved for a whole plate with some smoked salmon (on the bread), yummy little cherry tomatoes, a few nuts and some yogurt", which is just more appetizing to me TBH.0
