Does anyone have any good book suggestions? Here's a couple of the books I"ve read to get an idea of what I'm in to.

    Into Thin Air, Jon Krakauer.

    It's Krakauer's account of the 1996 Everest disaster and a very compelling read. I'm re-reading it now for probably the 5th time. Riveting!

    He was hired by Outside magazine to go on an expedition that year and write about the overcommercialization of the mountain and the large number of inexperienced climbers. Everyone seemed to believe that there was going to be a major disaster sooner or later, and it unfortunately came in 1996. 8 climbers, including two guides, died. One man was left for dead 3 times but survived, athough he lost his nose, one hand, part of the other and parts of both feet. It's an amazing story.

    I just got hooked on Sophie Kinsella, she writes the Shopaholic Books, but there is also one by her called "Can You Keep a Secret" it's pretty funny.
    Nora Roberts is my favorite, Nicholas Sparks
    Gone with the Wind is a classic.

    Just finished Promise Me by Nancy Brinker, that was pretty good. I also agree, anything by Jodi Piccoult (recently finished House Rules, another good read).

    I agree with Samantha - the forgotten Garden is fantastic (I am also a fan of the books you list as your favourites so I am sure you'll like this one).

    Anything by Emily Giffin, Jodi Piccoult (recently read The Pact and Handle with Care), Nicholas Sparks. I also LOVED The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein (it is told from a dogs point a view and very funny at times).

    I agree with "Cold Comfort Farm" by Stella Gibbons and the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. I'm a fan of Tana French's "In the Woods", "The Likeness", and "Faithful Place". Also, "Swing" and "Where the Truth Lies" by Rupert Holmes. Happy Reading!

    The teenage series Percy Jackson is quite good, but you can plow through them in no time.
    I also love the "girl with a dragon tattoo" series.

    I read Summer Sisters by Judy Blume recently and I absolutely loved it - a real pleasure to read, I'm not overly emotional but I have never laughed and cried at a book so much could not put it down!

    Have you been following the mess around Greg Mortenson? About the fraud in Three Cups of Tea and the gross misappropriation and misuse of funds collected by his charity, etc.?

    Sorry to derail the thread, but that mess is getting bigger by the day! Hope you never sent that jerk any money. :(

    And for Margaret Atwood books, my faves are The Blind Assassin and Alias Grace.

    I also have read and loved all of Tana French's books. Apparently there is another coming out in August......

    I love this thread, I have my amazon wishlist open as I read it and am adding loads to it to remind me later.

    If you liked Time Traveller's Wife, her other book (Her Fearful Symmetry) is equally impossible to put down.

    OMG no, my best friend's grandma gave it to me because nobody in her family reads...it's like the bible, very good STORY lol
