pre-op diet suggestions

I would like to lose about 30 lbs pre-op what are some suggestions.

    If this is for bariatric surgery you will want to shrink you liver by avoiding carbs...most dietitians will require that you eat less than 50 carbs a day. Make sure you eat lots of lean protein. Keep your calories less than 1500 and try to exercise several times a week. I used the Atkins protein shakes and frozen meals while I was getting ready for surgery. Eat mostly veggies and meat...most fruit is high in carbs due to the natural sugars.

    When I was going through the process to have a gastric sleeve I had to meet with a dietitian each month for 6 months. She was able to provide really good information and helped keep me accountable.

    Your dr should have given you your pre-op guidelines. Everyone is different.

    8 days later and the OP still hasn't given pertinent details such as the type of surgery or the timeline.
